JWM - I Am the DJ (Cheesy AF Eurodance/Hands-Up Trance done in NS2)

Basically...I started my "2005" EP in December of last year (so a few months ago), and I quickly lost interest in it. The premise of the EP was to be remakes of my old tracks from around 2005. I was absolutely obsessed with early 2000s Brooklyn Bounce back a few months ago as well as early 2000s Paffendorf. A handful of interesting factoids...

  1. "I Am the DJ" was to be the first track of the "2005" EP.

  2. I used the original vocoded vocals from the original version. The only new vocals are the lame shouting at the beginning. But the original vocoded vocals still hold up.

  3. This was my test track for Logic's then new "AI Mastering Assistant".

  4. There are two reasons I lost interest in the "2005" EP. The first is...I just didn't feel like continuing it as it'd all be EDM, which I have a love/hate relationship with these days. The second is...I then got my OP-1 Field and created three EPs with that instead.

  5. "The Clothes My Grandfather Wore", aka the EDM Irish Jig I released 13 days ago, was another planned track for the "2005" EP.

Now, I may release a third track from the "2005" EP titled "Rukun's Violin (JWM Remix)". He was one of my best mates back in uni, he was from China (and moved back there after graduating, and he and I lost touch), he was (and probably still is) one f-cking incredible violinist, and when I presented him with the string quartet, he said, "I'll have my quartet perform it for no cost!" He was touched by...SHUT UP @michael_m you bloody tosser. I know you by now.

Sheesh, where was I. Ah yes, so the "2005" EP is cancelled indefinitely. I may produce "Rukun's Violin (JWM Remix)" soon, but not before I try my hand at creating Prog/Space Rock (albeit sample-based in Koala or FLSM as I cannot afford session musicians to perform what's in my mind).

With all that rambling out of the way, please do enjoy the corny, cheesiness of "I Am the DJ". Cheers.

I am so sorry. To everyone.

I can’t help it, I just love this kind of music. Scooter-warning big time. It just makes me smile😁, and I am back visiting premises not always legal but always with happy dancing people.

Great track @jwmmakerofmusic. Would you allow me to try to make a remix and see what comes out?

I'm glad. :) I'm glad it's closer to gouda than mouldy.

  • Hehe, this does feel like a live album almost. The only thing that is missing is the audience noise.

It's very well arranged and it sounds very pro. I'm convinced you ARE the DJ.

    Nicely done!

  • This is great, I love the beat breaks and the acid. The drums are really what stand out to me, maybe because it would be a dream to get my drums to come alive like this, the man of 1000 workflows and 1000 genres, and you kept it interesting with the vocoder . Nice work

  • Outstanding! Besides top notch production, it’s just catchy as hell. Lots of great breaks that really hold my interest . Made me smile big. Nice one, Mr Jimmy.

Thanks mate. ☺️ Most of the drums are from Black Octopus' "Leviathan" series. Nice, thick and heavy techno drums!

Thank you so much mate. 😉 Yep, I guess I still like early 2000s "Techno" and EDM. You can definitely hear the early 2000s Brooklyn Bounce influences in this track.
