  • Yeah, sounds like a track from the ABF redo of Metropolis..

  • What a strange and unsettling vibe, and I mean that as a compliment mate. I love this so much! :) Well done.

  • Sounds really cool!👍🏻

I was thinking more like Eraserhead. I was determined to come up with something entirely different than anything I've done. In that regard, I think I was successful. I will listen again in a week and see if I still like it. Have a good week!

No surprise his one didn't get many plays. I think the title might have spooked some. This comes from an actual dream I had where I was playing piano with a total stranger. He was playing some weird instrument that he held like a concertina. It seemed to be able to make any sound he wanted. He would call out chords to me as we played. The dream felt like it went on for hours. In reality, it all happened between the alarm going off and the snooze button a few minutes later, I got up and punched a few notes into the MIDI editor to jog my memory for later. It's amazing how subconscious thoughts can work their way into the conscious mind. Like I said, this probably won't get many plays. I guess it only appeals to people like us. Thanks for listening!

  • It’s not gotten plays because of the word atonal my guess

I think it should get WAY more plays because it’s actually not cacophonous , it’s fun weird or weird fun. The guitar sounds real. Do you play ?

I did an experimental track for todays holiday and I doubt it’ll get comments

    Good work man

Your latest OP1F project reminds me of this. That little guy makes some really cool sounds. I'm glad you found your path to musical expression. I still remember my "a-ha" moment with the iPad. It's great that we can create entire bands without the all the other associated stuff, i.e. rehearsal, equipment, travel, politics, late nights, etc. Don't get me wrong, I still miss playing with a live band... but I'm getting over it. Have a good one!

I use Riffler and Riffler Flow for guitars. I only use my iPad, headphones and a cheap little stylus I bought at Wal-Mart. I played in bands for most of my life, but don't do that anymore. Long story. I have a closet full of gear, but I'm just not motivated to dig it out. I'm satisfied doing what I'm doing with my little iPad. Thanks for listening!

Paulie your studio is so compact I’m jealous lol ; and maybe get an Apple Pencil if you can, it’s so awesome and makes the iPad another level in my opinion .

My studio goes from compact (op1F) to full blown monitors, desk, 32” lCD, hub , midi controller etc )

@yellow_eyez I forgot to answer your question! Yes, I played guitar, but never in a band that earned any money. For that I played keys and bass. I still have 3 basses and 2 keyboards in the closet. I gave my guitar and one of my basses to my nephew when we discovered he was a potentially a musical genius. He could pick up any instrument and, within a few hours, be playing it. He was, and is, an amazing young man.

I think you meant to address this to JWM

  • @HotStrange Thanks for the Like on SoundCloud. Appreciate that. Have a great week!

  • I like this odd piece, @Paulieworld. It’s like an unusual abstract painting, the kind that keeps making you look at it. I think you put the tonal colors together rather well.

An unusual abstract painting! Thank you. I’m actually not really into that stuff. My favorite painters are Andrew Wyeth and Rembrandt. I saw several of Rembrandt’s paintings at the museum in Amsterdam, and we have a Wyeth “Helga” print hanging in our living room. I spent more on the frame.

This is definitely an odd piece. I don’t know if I should cringe or not. The cool thing about the internet is that I can post this nonsense on SoundCloud for a fixed yearly subscription, even if it sucks. I’m glad that a few like-minded folks get something out of it. I had a few cold pops tonight. Off to bed. Peace, bro!

I use to hate abstract art, but last year I got a gig playing piano in an abstract art gallery for a few months, and when I wasn’t playing, the artist took me around and explained the thought and feelings in his art. I started looking at it differently, kind of gave me a higher appreciation of the art form. Still wouldn’t buy any though. Have no room for it, my mother was a professional artist and all our walls are decked out with her paintings.

By the way, I meant the abstract comment about your song only in a good way, hope it didn’t come across critical in any way. Have a good night!

On the contrary, I welcome constructive criticism from anyone who cares to share. I recently joined another forum because I saw that the members were giving each other honest (often brutally honest) reviews of their work. I have listened to your music and thought... Damn, that was good. I wish I thought of that. You have some extraordinary composition and arranging skills. Please feel free to weigh in any time on anything. I thought "unusual abstract" was perfect. That's what I was going for.

That must have been great to have a professional artist in the family. I thought my father could have been a painter. He was a civil engineer and a hardcore math guy. One day I found him in the basement working on an oil painting! It was the last thing I would have expected from him. It was a painting of an arctic landscape. It was really good. I asked him where he got the idea. He said he just thought of it and decided to give it a try. He used to say, "Keep your eyes and ears open, you might learn something".

Please feel free to share your thoughts. I might learn something.

  • Slightly disturbing but not at all dull.
It’s not doing too bad for plays either 🫣
