Can't change ios volume level when using Audiobus with interface connected
Hi, I'm having a weird problem I can't figure out. I'm using the Roland Go Mixer Pro (with loopback) to mix music from my phone (iphone 13) with live field recordings and then sending the output through Audiobus to be recorded / streamed. This works OK, except whenever I add the mixer as an input, Audiobus "locks" my phone's volume at 100% and I can't change it without closing the app. So while I can receive the mixer output and send it on to another app via Audiobus, I can't control the volume of the audio files I'm sending from the phone through the mixer, which in large part defeats the point of the mix.
Audiobus only recognizes the Roland hardware device if I have Multiroute Audio selected; could this have something to do with the issue? The mixer is connected via USB to my phone. Any insight would be much appreciated!

This sounds like one @Michael might have to address.
If the Roland is the only device attached to your phone (and no headphones plugged in and no Bluetooth audio running) and you aren’t running Audiobus, do other audio apps send their output to the Roland and receive audio from it?
It may simply be that the interface doesn’t have variable volume: many don’t. The assumption is that you’ll use the volume control on the interface itself for playback volume. I don’t know if this is the case with the Go Mixer, but it might well be.
Hey, yes: if Audiobus isn't running, the mixer receives all audio outputted from the phone, at the volume level set on the phone itself. This particular mixer doesn't have a volume pot for the smartphone-in line, so the only way to control the volume of just the phone audio without affecting the mixer output gain is via the phone's volume setting. Like I said, with Audiobus running, the mixer still receives all audio from the phone (youtube, local files, whatever) but the phone's volume is stuck at 100%. The weirdest bit is I've only noticed Audiobus doing this w/ Multiroute Audio on and the mixer connected.
UPDATE: found a workaround --- I have to turn on Multiroute Audio for Audiobus to 'see' the connected mixer and give me the option to select it as input. Once the mixer is connected though, I can turn Multiroute Audio off and then I can turn the phone volume up or down normally. Maybe a bug in the app? Thanks for the replies, helped me figure it out !
