Reverse Midi Notes in Logic Pro for iPad

I'm wanting to reverse the order of notes in a midi pattern in Logic for iPad however I can't see any option to do such a thing. Easy enough on desktop with the midi transform tools but the midi editing options on this iteration are looking pretty thin. Hopefully I'm missing something!

TIA.

Convert the MIDI region to a pattern region — you can reverse the direction of midi notes in Pattern regions by setting the pattern to play in reverse.

cut the region so it contains just the notes you want to reverse then convert that part to a pattern. Patterns and midi regions can exist on the same track.

I haven’t tried converting the pattern back into a midi region — not sure if it ‘prints’ the reverse playback or not. If it does you can then convert the pattern back into a normal MIDI region.

Bless your cotton socks @klownshed ! I’m going to try this as soon as I make a coffee. Will report back on the reconversion as well. Thanks again.

  • @klownshed you beautiful bastard! It worked perfectly and the pattern regions reconvert to midi regions and keep the reversed notes. Thanks so much, really do appreciate it.

You’re welcome. Glad it worked :-)

  • The pattern editor is fantastic. I made a post on how to use it for p-lock automation on MIDI AND audio tracks if you’re interested…

  • Oh that looks super cool. Will have a play with that next. Awesome work my friend.

Pretty strange, but I’ve got curious about this technic in LP4i, but, for me the command ‘convert to pattern region’ doesn’t seems to show up when tapping on an MIDI region…?

    Any clue?

    See picture.

Not sure why it doesn’t work, although one guess would be the region is too long. It Might be worth trying to cut the region into smaller sections first.

    Ha!
Of course it was a region too long!
    Thanks!

I'm an idiot - As I can see an pattern region can only be 64 bars long...

    Thanks again!
