[Solved] 12-ET Tuning & FM in Moog Model D
Hi, I’ve recently been playing around with Moog Model D. I don’t know too much about FM, but is it really intended behavior for 12-ET tuning to sometimes go out the window when setting the FM strength (i.e. mod wheel) to 100%? For example, here’s the patch Clanging Biwa from the Electrified Ensemble bank, for which I turned off OSC 3. I’ve tried tuning the keys to their closest note in the chromatic scale using the Tune knob in the Controllers panel (and with the help of NA Tuner by Nembrini Audio), but I can’t seem to get the keys to behave in 12-ET tuning. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to use something like this in my music when that’s the case.
Comments
Sometimes, keys play notes outside the chromatic scale. Sometimes, notes get skipped in between two adjacent keys. Even if I’m able to tune the whole octave properly, once I go one octave up, things get messed up again.
Okay, actually it turns out this isn’t a big deal at all lol. Even just setting the max mod wheel amount to 90% instead of 100% brings the pitch fuckery back down to manageable levels while still maintaining nearly all the character/tone you get from 100%.
