Is it possible to sync ReBirth midi to Link within AUM?

For those of you lucky enough to have it. I’m struggling to get it to work. Any ideas?

Comments

  • LINK was never an option in Rebirth, but it still does sync to midi clock from AUM when hosted in AUM

  • That’s good to hear - thanks. Could you show me how to do this? - maybe one or two screenshots would be most appreciated. Midi slave ON in ReBirth I’m assuming. How do you then get AUM to send midi clock time to it?

    @robosardine
Just tried and it still works..
Load Rebirth in an audio channel in AUM
In Rebirth press ‘SYNC’ until it says AUM
In AUM press the 3 dots in the tempo bar. This opens the clock options.
In the sync section enable MIDI CLOCK SEND
In midi clock send settings at the bottom , enable AUM from the list of ‘connect midi destinations’
It was wildly out of sync at this time but start stop was working..
In the midi clock send settings in AUM, open the latency settings.
When I select the latency compensation to
‘Clocked device is mixed in AUM’ everything is then perfectly in sync

Rebirth is still the best software 303

  • Great - thanks very much for that - all hooked up. It’s a bit sticky getting it to sync with other AU’s I find - it’s almost like the old hardware itself now. I’ll maybe just have to play around with the latency? 🤔
    Cheers 😀

Just a quick question before some people might jump in and say....Why don't you use Pure Acid instead.....

How are you guys using Rebirth when it was pulled from the App Store?

  • If you bought it, it is still in your purchased apps on the account tab. It also still works perfectly (afaik).

Bought it when it was available, years ago. It still sits on my iPad. Seriously, Rebirth was great in the 90s, now we have so much better.

  • Yes that’s it - if you bought it previously, you still have it. Thats what I was meaning by ‘those lucky enough to have it’. Unless I’m missing something, the only real challenger on iOS is the superbly excellent Pure Acid. ReBirth does sound very good though - there can be no doubt.
I was hoping to use them both together to see how it went as they are both slightly different sounding. ReBirth has automation in song mode.

  • I mess around with Pure Acid much more nowadays…but Rebirth is still really fun if there are two people using Dual mode. Rebirth is still pretty inspiring because of how ‘limited’ it feels in comparison to modern apps…but it still covers whole lot the ground.
