Gauss is almost the perfect looper, but..
So after making a loop and turning record off or back on there is a tiny little hiccup/glitch. Using this for live use is useless with this although sometimes the glitch is hardly heard it’s still sounds unprofessional really.
It’s too bad cause this could have been my favorite looper of all time.
Any other suggestions?
I’ve messaged them about this and they say it’s the way the looper is made and they can’t do anything about it. Shame.

I don’t know if Drambo is part of your regular setup. If it is, try inserting the gate declicker module afterwards.
Oh I do have it! I’ll try… thanks
It’s meant to emulate a tape loop so the click is realistic. The first release also had a wobble where the splice would be, though they took it out afterwards, making it work well as a Frippertronics style long tape delay.
I don't think so tbh. Initially I remember there was something wrong with the recorded loop having some kind of unwanted noise. Then something was changed in an update. The recorded loops now played perfectly, but instead there was this noise when turning record on or off. It was discussed at the time here on the forum. Bram didn't think it was a big deal. I don't think it is something that can be fixed, although I agree with the OP that is is very unfortunate that it does this, it really annoys me, even though I love Gauss and use it a lot.
No. It’s a bug. Lmao
I use it in the studio but for live use nope. It’s so damn close to being perfect! Uhhh
I’m happy to defer on it being a bug, but would point out that if you try turning the record on and off on a real tape loop you’ll have a job not getting a click!
I think the “unwanted noise” was the splice point wobble, which was removed in v 1.0.1 when they added loop decay.
@brambos?
Here is what @brambos said the last time this was brought up:

Do you need to use Gauss? It was never meant for live performance.
Where was it ever stated that it wasn't for live performance, though? The general expectation when buying a looper would be that it should be able to be used live, no problem.
here ...
That's a damned shame.
No probs. Curious if it’s working out for you. I bust it out whenever I’m experimenting with Flexi in Drambo using and making connections that sounds cool but introduces clicking. It’s been hit or miss with me. Maybe use a gate or a compressor with gate mode so you can tune it and make her more fine.
Another thought is if you already own Brusfri, sample and loop the clicks so you can teach Brusfri. I’ve had success in that regard but in a different context. In your case is may turn out to be too much of a micro loop, thus masking to broad of a frequency range. Plus I think Brusfri adds latency; not ideal for live use. Try that only if you already own it.
Ah... I don't find that very convincing tbh. Remember that prior to being 'fixed', which created the current problem, it had the opposite problem, where there was sometimes unwanted noise in the recorded loop.
But hey, there is little point having argument or discussion about it, because there was plenty of heated discussion at the time. It is what it is and it is unlikely thus discussion will bring about any changes to the status quo.
What do you want the looper to do? There are many options. But the right fit depends in your goals/needs.
I’m (maybe) ashamed to say I never got the point of Gauss as a looper. I get the fun factor as more of a generative mangler tool, messing with the speed, sequencer thingy, etc… But I don’t see it as a looper replacement. I’d love to hear what it brings to the table for others.
Those things, and the frippertronics mode, the general sound of it when pitched down, are exactly the point!
I generally reach for it to do 2 things:
Frippertronics (loop decay.)
As a texture creator, eg. record one note… mangle it and then fade it in and out.
I’ve never tried to use it as a normal looper, I didn’t know it could do that lol.
I bought it to use as a field recorder to make dirty samples with. Does that job perfectly well and you get to have a lot of fun with your recordings, what's not to love!
It’s not really intended as a normal looper, like Loopy or whatever for live looping etc. There are better tools for that job. But as a virtual tape loop it’s fantastic for making stuff with multiple phased un-synced loops (using multiple instances in AUM, for example). It can do interesting rhythmic things with the sequencer, but if you get something good you need to record it straight away as it’ll probably never be the same twice due to the loop’s start point not being fixed.
I think you meant to say Terry Rileytronics!
It’s really fun for getting Jimi Hendrix-like backwards guitar solos
There’s no way to export the recordings though, right? Other that recording the session in the standalone app, that is
Or recording it into Cubasis or Neon Audio Recorder or something like that to make perfect loops.
For this purpose i tend to use standalone and save the loop or record audio direct in standalone but you could use any audio recording host, i'd probably use in combination with loopy pro.
Currently i'm using Guass to sample my vocals in Drambo, with Salome sampling the Guass loop and playing it with MPE surface. Fantastic fun.
I personally love all the little defects and glitches with these apps. Makes them more interesting…Gauss is perfect even with a strange little wobble.
Yes, but I honestly wouldn't use it as a field recorder. To me, better to record the original using AUM or audio share or whatever. You then have a high quality version if you want it later. The use of Gauss for me is as a creative looper, using the sequencer, or doing weird stuff by manipulating things while recording etc
