Where are Xinematix files stored locally?

After ai installed Xinematix, I started having all kinds of trouble with my files app freezing, and my settings freezings.

I want to delete the app and all local files to see if that helps.

But when I look for large files in the local xinematix folder (when it’s not freezing) I can’t find them.

Good luck, but, the 18GB of patches/samples are sandboxed and never accessible without an oldschool Jailbreak…

I tested today with the new beta versions of iMazing (v3), but, same old messages, can’t browse file system…

  • There are 2 locations:

    • the one area you can access with the Files app: "on my ipad", in the Xinematix folder. But here I can see small files/a few folders only.
    • In the Xinematix app space, which is only accessible via iTunes. If you delete the app completely, all the files there will be deleted, too.

This assumes you did all Xinematix downloads with the "local" option selected.
You can also use the "external storage" option in Xinematix to download the library to an external drive or to another folder on "on my iPad" to make the library more accessible (note: I only did a quick trial for the latter, since I didn't want to download several GBS again...).

Maybe your issue is connected to some iCloud hickups? I think I read about this here in other cases/different apps

Oh, weird. The file size for the app says 1.36 go data, but I’ve downloaded almost all the samples.

    I have NO external storage.

But, that’s how Apple wants it on the sandboxed system…

Apples goal is to stop the pirate behavior “we” had earlier in our lifes - if the 18GB would be accessible it should be really easy to give them away to people not willing to pay…

    That’s life…

I don't believe that's the case. The storage used should show as either the program or its data. Now, sometimes iPad Storage takes a little while to catch up. Try leaving Storage open for a few minutes and see if it updates. Is it possible that your Storage is full?

If you're just having trouble deleting the app, you could try deleting it from the Storage display. In ancient times, that was sometimes more reliable than long press on the Home Screen icon. Note that you won't get your space back immediately. It will just move to System Data, and wait for garbage collection to remove it.

What is reported in the ipad storage section of settings should represent the actual space used by the Xinematix 'data' that has been installed by downloading libraries. I have all of them and the figure is just over 18GB.

I don’t really know what’s your message here are?

Whatever - we can’t access the files belonging to XinematiX for manually copying or deleting them - Apples sandboxed file system is blocking that toward the end user…

yes, this is correct. While Apple is certainly trying to obfuscate past behavior, they do report the storage in the sandbox. Thank you for the correction, and the confirmation.

  • Update: deleting xinematic and audiolayer and the associated data seems to have resolved the usability issues on my iPad. However, I am not confident that the storage count is accurate, and I fear my iOS is corrupted.

    No it isn’t.
When using both, there’s a shared storage for both apps called Harry , even if you deleted both it might stay, search for it under setting=>storage.

This shared storage is what makes sharing xinematix and AudioLayer libraries possible

Remember that some of the deleted space may have been moved to "System Data", and it may take a while for it to be erased.

  • you shouldn’t complain… I downloaded everything, but it looks like I still don’t have the full library:

I guess some of the downloads didn’t work as expected, but to I would need the sizes of each pack to tell which one I’d have to download again — yet we’ve only got a list of names!

Have you looked down the list for the shared storage, possibly named "Harry"? It should be pretty large, so near the top.

Is there an app that forces a clean up of "System Data" and gets rid of stuff you don't need.

I have the "Clean My Mac" program on my desktop Mac and it does a bit of a clean out every now and then.

    Anything like that on iOS?

I don't believe there is. It'd be pretty difficult for a sandboxed app to reach into spaces managed by the system.

    No.

If we wants open system with full access, we choose Mac or Windows.

If we wants an open fragile system on mobile device, we choose Android.

Apples mobile devices are totally protected against ”hacking” or misbehaving (virus, phising, spyware) - so, forget to see and reach your files system 100% without an old school jailbreak.

I’m satisfied with current status. A stable and awesome mobile operative system.

Do you have any idea of security of Android? (That is actually a Linux system).
File system is protected and system files not easy to manipulate even when you have root access. With added transparency. If you want you can get deep into it when you have absolutely no idea what's going under the hood of your iOS device...

Piracy is still a huge problem on Android, even on newest devices and latest Android system version…

And yeah, I know pretty well that both Android and MacOS/iPadOS/iPhoneOS is built upon UNIX/Linux, but, also extremely different in the shell and security…
