JWM - Rave Inferno (A Battle of Two Genres in FLSM)

In this track, we have two genres of music duking it out - Disco, and Rave Techno. At first, Disco is just doing its thing until the Rave organ creeps in, which starts the argument. Then suddenly, the hard electro lead comes in to tell Disco off! The argument escalates until the beat drops out.

Both sides retreat to their respective corners until the grand finale, where both sides come together in the name of Dance, represented by the Disco beat being replaced with the Techno Minipops-styled beat while the Disco strings play wildly, and the eventual reintroduction of the hard electro lead.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed making it. FLSM was used, although I did use oneshots of a couple things (namely the Mellotron strings) in DW Sampler. Most of the drums came from Black Octopus Trident Tech pack. :) Although that one Minipops rimshot is straight from the KB6 Minipops pack.

Cheers and enjoy.

  • I don't hear anything rave but it's in general just great track :-) Mad respect, this is really well produced, great ideas musically and also very good overal sound. Hat down.

If i should put it into some box, i would mark it "progressive disco" :-D But whatever, i don't like genre boxes too much. It's just good electronic dance music :+1: :+1:

  • Very cool, maybe more electro vibe than rave, nicely done!

  • I can kinda see where you going with the Rave reference. There's a kinda Talkbox/Vocoder/Acid sound to the first synth you've used.

I love the motif of the strings.

You should be proud of this

  • Yet another one… not too fond of the mashup though, not my cup of tea but as always, I totally respect the craftmanship/production!

I also very much admire your discipline when it comes to music making! Song after song… are you living in another time zone somewhere hidden where a day has 48 hrs??😂

    All the best,
    DMfan🇸🇪

  • @dendy Many thanks. Yeah, I wasn't sure if I actually produced a Rave part or not lol. I'm just obsessed with Justice and their hard electro Disco style.

@id_23 Thank you so much my friend. 🫶

@dasgoods Thank you so much mate! I am very proud as this track was more conceptual than many of my other late works. I love the string motif too. It's definitely Disco, which I love. 🪩

@DMfan Lol, nope, no fancy sci fi time zones here. 🤣 I just happen to have a lot of time on my hands and love to create. Although right now I'm in a music creation rut. Not from a lack of creativity but rather a "what do I make next" perspective. Options paralysis. Even if I limit myself to simply using Koala Sampler, it's still like "what do I make
    next"?

I'm thinking of remaking an old track of mine called "Kowloon", and this time I'm sure the original is Chinese sounding, but I'll decide if to change the name or not when the time comes. I want to put XinematiX through the paces and see what epic orchestral goodness I can evoke from it. 😉

Definitely going to dig into their discography once I'm awake. Almost bed time for me at the moment. Thanks for sharing!

Got a chance to listen! Really great music!

  • Holy shit! Somehow "Rave Inferno" has over 600 listens on SoundCloud! Ah, I am so chuffed!

You had people's attention piqued at Rave and Inferno. A lethal (but good) combination for attracting attention 😬

    Perhaps so.

  • Super cool. I can see myself dancing to this in my multi-color polyester shirt with some super fine ladies back in the day. What happened? Let’s bring it back! Nice funky track, bro.

The disco nature is very obvious in the melody, but I heard some things like the rise which don't sound like typical disco to me (assuming that fits with rave music). Very catchy track and easy on the ears, btw!

  • I prefer the organ half of this Jekyll/Hyde invention. Why don’t you try a classically inspired track like that old Beethoven’s 5th disco track, Jim. That could be fun.

  • 👍🏻 looks like your up to 1.1k now.

Thanks mate. :) Yeah we need to bring back the 70s, not the 90s. 😂

Thank you mate. :) The riser is definitely for the Rave and Techno side of things.

With XinematiX, I can definitely give that a shot. XinematiX has a really great broad range of orchestral sounds (amongst other great sounds). :)

I'm happy with that. Last track to reach 1k+ listens was that dumb throwaway track "Lofi Lounge". 😂 At least this time a track I'm actually proud of is getting recognition.

    Been a while bud.

Nice one! Love the disco vibe. It's disco but it's not disco. Disco House perhaps? Is that even a genre? If not, you just created it. Awesome!

  • 1.3K and rising 😊
Like @DMfan I’m not a fan of ‘this type’ of music but your production and musicality always win the day 👍

  • No idea about the genre aspect of this, but this was an enjoyable listen. Nice clear, transparent mix. Probably my favorite part was around 2:15 where you took it down and grooved out.

I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I've no idea if it was Rave or not. I just called it that since it sounded kinda like Rave music infused with Neo Disco. A great combo imho. Cheers ❤️

  • The sounds definitely reminded me of Justice. I love the bass.

Yes! Glad you liked the bass and, yes, I love Justice!
