Two Kebarps searching for a Xinematix face mysterious adventures.

A kind of soundtrack to something.
It’s great to finally get to really try out Xinematix with all it’s great sounds and now I can finally understand how Cinematic it really can be.
So here I’m using the great, new Keybarp! I’ve got two instances of each and both are being triggered by me playing my little Nektar keyboard as the two Xinematics move between the sounds.
Now I’ve got to find some videos to add these to.

  • Excellent. @McD will enjoy it, I think. What is Keybarp?

  • Nice sounds. Each synth has two sounds and morphs between them by lfo?

Hey, thanks again! There are some recent threads about it. A new arp with some unique tools.

Thanks for listening. I'm using two separate Xinematix and each one has 3 instruments. I used MidiLFO to move back and forth between them. You can get lost in all the samples that come with it.

I do like the work of @MrStochastic as a general rule. He shared 2 MIDI compositions with me
so I could import them into StaffPad. The compositions are really interesting.

His KEBARP work here sold me on this new app (note typo on the thread title).

Thanks! Maybe I should just feed those midis right into XinematiX. 🤦🏼‍♂️ oops, spelling sheesh. I must have hiccuped when I was typing it.

I think you’d get some interesting music out of that… the music you created is really interesting.

I have no idea how you did this, but it’s really good! I had to listen a few times. It reminds me of Shostakovich or Scriabin. The Keybarps have a nice sound, but I would prefer a harp or some nice woodwinds. Beautiful moving composition. I wish I wrote it. Mysterious Adventures is a great title.

  • On the first listen, I was distracted by the beauty of the orchestration. But on second listen I started hearing the musical intention behind it. It’s not just a generative patch with nice samples. It’s a fabulous keyboard improvisation, interacting with both the arps and the evolving patches. Wild, wild stuff!

Thank you! Xinematix is a really good deal now that it's only $20. So many instruments. There are some woodwinds I haven't had a chance to try yet. I haven't found a harp and I'm surprised there isn't one in there. Kebarp is a fascinating arp if you like arps. I get the feeling you never use those.

Thank you for listening again!. It's a rare privilege to get a 2nd listen! The new and interesting thing with Kebarp is how it does "pattern chaining" so you can set up some more complex movements and changes for the arp to cycle through.

  • Actually, I do like arps! I don’t use any external gear, so anything that generates interesting MIDI is useful to me. I am listening to a video by Doug at The Soundtest Room that details Xinematix. Some great sounds in there. I’ll probably get that later today. I’m having a bit of trouble finding Keybarp. Can you post a link?

Cuz I misspelled it; sorry, it's Kebarp. lots of fun. look forward to hearing how you might use these things.

  • Lovely understated piece 🙏
Xinematix is a great source of sounds… you’ve inspired me to have a go with it 😊

Glad you checked it out; thanks! Yes, Xinematix really requires having all the sounds to finally make sense of it but when it first arrived with the expensive sets that seemed so weirdly organized I can see that like me, others must have been put off. I've liked trying different ways to automate the main controlling thing (don't know what else to call it). I look forward to hearing how you put it to use.

  • Oh, this tickled my brain. The erratic movement between voices was really engaging. Also loved the mix of orchestral and "ethnic" instruments (at least that's what I thought I was hearing). The jaunty rhythms that were almost certainly not on any kind of a grid also provided a lot of interest. Nice one.

Thanks for listening! Tickling brains is my main goal. It actually was on a kind of 'grid' using the two Kebarp sequencers but because they can auto switch between scenes and each can have a different time pulse it has that effect.

@MrStochastic - thanks for the background about sequencing. I need to check out kebarp as those sort of off kilter, unexpected patterns are right up my alley.

  • Two kebabs in search of a pita. Good on second listening, too.
