Mozart’s Lost Elegy / XINEMATIX VERSION

First DRC version
DRC plus PureSynth Platinum, BeatHawk Choir and iSymphonic Strings.

At the request of @MrStochastic. Below, I have rendered another version comparing the two. At the beginning of this version Xinematix is playing alone, woodwind/string patch and choir patch.

At 1;48 you will hear PureSynthPlatinum String Quartet, BeatHawk Double Bass and ISymphonic strings enter. You can hear the PSP quartet pierce through and the deep BeatHawk bass as well (Xinematix has decent bass, too, but no standalone bass section, I believe).

At 2:38 it’s all Xinematix again.

It was mentioned by Mr Stochastic as well that the first version sounded like it had an accordion in it, which it sort of does (DRC). I did this intentionally, as Mozart talked of his Requiem having a “squeezebox” sound. I agreed and tried to echo that. However, I think the second version is a lot better.

Still, I would not say Xinematix is superior. Equal, yes, but, as usual, you have to find the superior presets. PSP. BeatHawk and Korg Module all have such sounds. And, along with Xinematix, all have distinct sounds (if you’re really listening).

Xinematix, at $20 for the whole library is astounding, as I barely touch the breath of it, not to mention the electronic sounds). If you can afford it, get all of them save ISymphonic, which was one of the first acoustic orchestral apps. It’s good but the other four cover you.

Pls let me know your thoughts about this version and Xinematix, in general.

Xinematix version

Comments

  • Excellent piece.

  • Definitely some Mozartian chords. Almost an accordion in there. Can't help wondering how it may have sounded with Xinematix.

  • Mozart is my kind of musician, very well done LL.

  • This is my fave of yours out of the past few. I really like this a lot. Classical is my old school so I appreciate this stuff . Awesome .z

  • Love this @LinearLineman I always dig the neo-classical (is that right? What makes something Neo?) renditions of these classical pieces and chord progressions.

@MrStochastic I also thought of the Xinematix sounds, and was also going to ask Mike if he’s tried them. Mike?

Not that the Beathawk stuff ever lets us down! Excellent Choir sounds!

  • Wish granted. Added Xinematix @MrStochastic. See above with opinions.
Thanks @AlexY @Frenq @yellow_eyez @Edward_Alexander i don’t think it’s neo enough to be neo. More like an emulation or reimagining.

  • Wow - the new version gave me shivers. I'm also still swimming through the sounds. I've been trying out how it might work with faster tempos stuff. Also wondering about that "Latch" button down on the left side. I can't find a way to point my sustain pedal to it. Does it work for you?

  • Well dang I can’t decided which version I like more now. The new Xinematix version definitely sounds like it’s in a bigger space, like a concert hall, while we can’t deny the amazing sounds in the first version. Maybe you’re just going to have to combine them haha 😛

  • Good one. I was overdubbing a drum part in my head there for a while. I’ve still never heard a bigger-sounding cinematic drum than that one isymphonic iap (no idea which one right now though). Does Xinematix have any percussion?

  • I think I like the Xinematix version best - the dynamics and overall sound is superb. Excellent job!

  • Thanks @MrStochastic @Edward_Alexander, I agree. 2nd version is more “serious”, but that accordion effect ups the weirdness. I could combine them somehow. I’ll think about it.
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr Xinematix has drum sets, haven’t looked at them yet. BeatHawk has some very good percussion inapps.

Thx @AlterEgo_UK agreed, more three dimensional.

  • Both excellent, possibly prefer the second version but a close run thing !

  • Thx for keeping up, @GeoTony . I’ll only respond to this and Message from Antares. Don’t want to flood the zone, bro. I really appreciate your careful attention.

  • Second one straight out of a blockbuster film, the first sounded a bit 'thin' by comparison but from about 1:18 - 1:40ish I really liked the first better, it felt more emotive.

I listened to Xinematix version first which may have swayed me towards it.

    Quality stuff.

  • Thanks @deadpoetlive Happy you enjoyed it!
