Anyone else constantly getting stuck notes on Mood Synth .. or is it just me?

Man … I love Mood Synth, but I feel like I’m almost always getting stuck notes when I use it .. anyone else have this issue? Anyone know a fix for it - outside of pushing the panic button every time transport stops?

Comments

  • More details are needed.
Is this when playing the mood internal keyboard? If not, what is sending the midi?
    What host?
Does it occur when Mood is the only synth? Or does it make a difference if there's more going on in the patch.
Are there any stock presets that consistently show the problem so that others can try to test?

You mention "transport". Are you using a sequencer that does not send Note Off messages for notes that are playing when transport stops?

  • Good catch @uncledave. I missed that about the problem happening when transport is stopped.

  • Thanks @wim and @uncledave … wouldn’t you know, the minute I mention it, I can’t seem to reproduce it, which is super weird because just yesterday I was lamenting having to stop using Mood because of the issue.

    Some more details, though..

Typically happens when using my own presets, and running Prism Sequencer (beta) in AUM. I usually have a handful of other AU instruments playing, as well, and those notes weren’t getting stuck when transport stops. Could be a setting on the sequencer, gonna test some more tonight.

If it happens again, I may have some more info for you .. thanks!

  • It would probably be useful to send Prism's output to a midi monitor to see what happens when transport is stopped. All note on messages should hopefully be matched with a note-off after the transport stops. It may be that other synths are tolerant of unmatched midi note messages when transport stops, but it's the responsibility of the sequencer to send clean midi.

Exactly. The sequencer should perform a clean shut-down. Other synths might appear less affected if their envelopes are short (plucks or bells).

Thanks again , both of you. I sent Prism to showMIDI and all notes on/off looked to be as they ought. Haven’t had the issue again, yet .. could have been a some of my Mood patches having looooooong release times?
