A dream sampler

edited April 2024 in Feature Wishlists

I have been using samplers since the early 80s…
I always find that different samplers offer the same selections over and over.
I wish someone would create the omega of all samplers.

Features:
1. Of course AUV3 as a plug, but also auv3 as a host for effects etc.
2. Sample start and end modulation targets
3. Slicing
4. In built sequencing with ratchets, probability, and condition math for said events
5. The elastique pro time/pitch/formant standard
6. Actual sampling
7. The ability to break out stems (more than 4)
8. A fft spectrograph editor like Iris
9. Granular modes
10. Additive/resysnthesis/spectral capabilities
11. Sequencer with arp modes, play modes, modulation control, ratchets, probability, & conditional math.

Think torso s-4, Apple alchemy, Izotope iris/rx, MPC, rip x pro, Roland vsynth, serato sample and koala had a love child…

You could charge for the features to be turned on
Then I could erase about 1/3 of my plug ins and just use one to rule them all

Just a thought…why has no developer stepped up to win the sampler game? It’s there, get it!

Comments

  • I own Drambo, but I haven’t dug in and tried to build this…I know a lot of it is possible…the fft editor isn’t in there (iris sampler)
If all this stuff was put together oh what a synthesizer this would be. Especially if it had a 4 osc architecture and a morph stick…sick

Why? Probably not worth the time & money in iOS.

Personally, I’d LOVE to see TAL Sampler in iOS. I use it on desktop and it (sorta) soothes my GAS for vintage samplers (kind of).

  • We have been developing an innovative sampler for over two years. If all goes according to plan, it will be available by the end of this year. This cross-platform, open-source tool is designed to change the way you work with sound. Stay tuned for a game-changing experience in audio sampling!

  • @Jeezs hope it has all those features up there. That would rule.

  • If full alchemy was on iOS it would be insanely close

The initial release won't include all of those features. However, it will be a modular sampler and open-source, making it easy to add new features. Slicing, time-stretching, markers, sample chaining, layers, round-robin, synthesis, filtering, and a powerful envelope system will be part of the package. Additionally, we will provide a powerful scripting engine. More details and teasers will be available in the coming months.

    Great news!!
    Thanks in advance!

  • auv3 sampling on ios is tough, there is a tight RAM limit..

    Cool stuff. Can’t wait.

Will there be an iOS version?

We want to use Disk streaming for the samples.

For sure, it works as AUv3 on iPhone, iPad, and macOS, and also as VST for Windows and most Unix systems.
