The Bots Are Among Us (ambient/synthwave)
Here's a psybient track with a hint of synthwave exploring worries about AI This one is more melodic and structured than previous efforts and has no generative elements, which is maybe ironic given the subject matter! Some live keyboard playing in there too. I spent time trying to make an engaging video that works with the music.
On a technical note, my trusty Nanokontrol2 gets a workout but more interestingly I used 2 old iPads as midi controllers - one serving as a keyboard, the other as a clip launcher as you can see in the video. The software I used on these was Xequence AU: Keys & Pads by @SevenSystems - fantastic apps which did the job perfectly. Midi was sent over wifi from these 2 devices to my iPad Pro using Midi Network. The Pro was where all the sound generation occurred (many apps running in AUM, incl. LK Matrix where the midi clips were set up).
Another interesting experiment was using Rozeta XOX to control the Trancelectro kit in Synthmaster Player. I used MIDIgates to split the notes out to different tracks so I could process each drum instrument separately. For randomised fills I used midi cc automation sent from LK Matrix to periodically max the mutate value on XOX's snare drum for a bar (otherwise set to 0).
Other nerd notes...
- LK Matrix provides the structure - this piece was heavily clip based
- Elsa is playing the speech samples (except the vocoder - that was a blend of AUVoiceRackFX, VoiceBot and DerVoco)
- Main sequences played on Viking and Monolit
- Lead synth was Synthmaster One
- Video effects using Kino Glitch and Camtasia

Thanks for sharing. Loved the brassy lead!
👍🏻 well done; 3 ipads! who's that robot lurking back there?
I’m in love with the cs80 tone! Thanks for listening
I have no idea who that is Thanks for watching
Love it! It has a dark Kraftwerk feel with a great low end. It all fits together very well.
Thanks! Yeah visually it kinda ended up with an aesthetic somewhere between Kraftwerk and Daft Punk. Poor man’s version that is lol. “Robots” vibe towards the end too maybe (sound wise). I appreciate you listening 👍
Btw I forgot to post to Soundcloud - did that today, adding the link here: https://on.soundcloud.com/bhiWUpK8q6E2wmyj7
I was expecting something far more manic ( don’t know what psybient is) but this was nicely dark , moody and very catchy. Great work 🙏
