Great video.
I have Reggae, Mid East, Funk, and Future Drummer. I'm curious which Drummers you think are unique enefor purchase if one has those. I'm eying Hip Hop and Indian... But Soft Drummer keeps popping into my mind. I'm not sure if Jazz and Soft are all that different, and am also wondering if Rock gives that much uniqueness if one already has Reggae and Funk. Thanks for any thoughts!
Nice video, thanks Ed. I still hope for Rock drummer and Soft drummer sale.
The ‘Send Groove to Drummer’ feature just makes these Drummers ‘infinitely creative’… Sending a Reggae Drummer Grove to Jazz Drummer, etc. MultiTrack Export, MIDI Export.. oh.. and iBassist .. well.. Oh.. And the Percussion Drummers, Indian Drummer, AfroLatiin Drummer.. They are all worth every single penny..
Sorry, yes, I am a fan..
Cool Ed! I love the Lumbeat drummers. Hopefully one day, @LuisMartinez will make some, or hopefully all of them AUV3 like his amazing iBassist’s recent update, however your video here is a great demonstration of one of the many different ways IAA apps can fit into one’s workflow.
I don't have Funk or Rock--plenty of other apps for that. I have all those others. I don't know which ones are lacking the "send groove" feature, if any. But it's a great feature. Tablas playing a reggae groove along with the reggae drummer is really fun.
When he rewrote Mid-East drummer he made the samples tunable, as are the Indian Drummer samples. So in those two apps, now it is much easier to get those drums that have a note be in tune.
I'm less appreciative of the Jam feature. The variations sound inhuman to me and often lose the clave. I think Playbeat's variations are more organic. So I usually keep Jam off or turned way down.
Soft Drummer was my first Lumbeat, but I think it would be low on my list now.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Is send groove really just setting an appropriate time signature? I mean, you can't just set these anyway in Lumbeats or most apps, but I think that's what send groove mostly does if my ears are grokking things.
I value Lumbeat a lot for the fills, but I'm admittedly less advanced in my rhythm composition than melodic/harmonic. Any tips for how you use Playbeat's randomization to get more human grooves? I have to revisit the app. The lack of standard midi maps for common drum apps has made me less inclined to pick it up unless I know I like the sounds in Playbeat for a composition... I still haven't found a flow for making my own sample kits either.
I think send groove might be sending a clave of some sort. It sounds like more than just time signature--the host could handle that. I don't know Playbeat well enough to understand how it works, beyond locking some drums and letting others vary.
Thanks!
