Behringer Model D Help!

edited April 29 in Hardware

Last night I made out pretty good on Facebook Marketplace locally: nabbed a Conductive Labs The NDLR and Behringer Model D for $300 total!

The NDLR works great, but Model D is acting wonky: Overload lamp stays on, it responds to MIDI although the signal is faint and is shrouded in humming. It looks fine - no physical blemishes, powers up fine, connects to MusicTribe application and updated firmware fine, and test tone works fine although it sounds modulated like an LFO effect. Anyone experienced this issue with Model D, got a fix?

I’m hoping I didn’t get Behringer’d 🙃 although at $300 for both, the Model D is practically free since The NDLR keeps its value and can be hard to find.

  • Nice find. I check Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for synths daily, and people are annoyingly aware of used prices. Being close to Nashville probably doesn’t help.

Nashville, yeah music capital of the world 🙌🏽
The guy who sold me the gear, his roommate left yesterday so he needed money for rent 🙏🏻

I have been blessed with some awesome deals on Facebook Marketplace!

Is the overload knob turned all the way down? It’ll feedback into itself without anything plugged in so the knob has to be turned off. Also the envelopes can be a little long depending on the setting. There are some envelope settings and stuff if you hook it up to music tribe but you probably saw that. Although the test tone thing is weird. Did you check the circuit board? Someone might have tried to mod it and failed

Ahhh, that “mod and fail” is sus because the cheeks were not screwed in tight. I was told it was in a box/unused for a year. I will try tinkering with the envelopes in Music Tribe, thank you!

  • @Stuntman_mike heres a good starter patch to dial in as well to test the envelopes. The sustain really sustains and threw me off when I got it. Also, take note of the cable coming out. I modded mine (successfully) so if you do end up checking out the board for solder iron burns and whatnot, that area and over by the oscillators and filters are where most of the mods take place. Oh yeah, there are tuning pots as well on the board for the oscillators and the filter iirc so someone may have messed with those as well

Wow, this is VERY helpful @Fingolfinzz, thank you so much!
