BeatMaker updated to 2.5.5

I wonder if it's even safe to update on an iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2. I've had some bad experiences with some apps not working on my older devices as they should when updating for iOS 8 compatibility.

Any brave souls out there want to volunteer?

  • Quick load function dosnt work. Bad update:(

  • Thanks for the notice, but I'm gonna pass. I'm still on iOS 7 and "Fix pitch wheel automation recording" is not a compelling reason to update.

  • @Fako79
What OS has the quick load fail?

  • I downloaded BeatMaker 2 on my iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.2 to test the update and I can confirm that the quick load function is broken. As soon as you tap on any sample in the quick load panel the quick load panel freezes.

  • ios 8.0.2

  • So it looks like this issue isn't exclusive to iOS 7 then.

    Thanks- good info
I have 8 on my iPad and 7 on my 5s, think I'll skip update for both

  • From Intua on FB:
"iPhone 6 and 6+ users should wait before updating to BeatMaker 2.5.5 ! There is an issue with the screen resolution. We are working on it.

    Sorry for the inconvenience"

  • Thanks.
I was about to update it...

    @telecharge
Thanks...though that note is about the iPhone 6 screens, I hope they get the quick load issue sorted too

  • Getting fragmented, are we?

  • Getting fragged more like, Lieutenant.

  • I am going to make a confession...I'm not proud...but...I dropped BM2 a while back. Found another couple of apps with a collective footprint about an eighth of BM2 and finally let her go. I feel like I've just confessed to cheating in some weird way.

  • I thought of deleting bm2 a few times but it is my only proper linear DAW so it will probably stay until something new earth shattering comes out (Intua?).

But yeah @boone51 it definitely feels like cheating and that feeling definitely comes when you let go of something that served you well and had a good relationship with, especially with some traumatic beginnings :)
Edit: I know many people love it but when I deleted Gadget I had none of those feelings. A bit of a relief actually.

Anybody has any positive results with BM2 and Launchkey mini? Nothing happens when I do a midi learn... The value changes but nothing happens other than that.. I feel I hurried on iOS 8 upgrade...

Edit: It's working the opposite way. Triggering the pads on the screen gives visual feedback on the drum pad but hitting the pad does nothing.

thats exactly what happened when i deleted BM.Nothing.No tears :)

  • I would dump BM2 for BM3 if it's an evolution of 2. There's no other app that gives me the MPC workflow combined with a linear timeline on iOS as far as I know. I hate "scenes", or whatever you call them lol. NanoStudio is close, but the drum machines leaves much to be desired in some parts.

  • Beat Machine has an MPC-style flow crossed with a linear timeline, however the timeline isn't nearly as in-depth as BM2 (very few are)

  • I've spent 4hrs straight on impc pro and I have to say that bm2 wins in several ways as far as the drum sampler and sample editing is concerned. I'd go as far as to say that mpc pro somehow kills the sound in the mix, don't ask me how but it all sounds like mash to me. And yes even without the duck.

  • You need to close the master compressor....when I play it I close completely all two comp knobs...

  • Yep^^ what he said! impc pro is ridiculously good.

  • Hey freeman I don't think you can complain about nanostudio drum machine when it's 3 years old. Even now I go back and use this app. It just works solid. End of !!!
I used to love bm2 but too many cracks menus. Always looking for things. It really is dated.
Sample chopping was the main reason I kept it for so long
    Bring on bm3. !!!

  • 2.5.6 update is out now!
