MIDI CC filter plugin?

Preferably free, as all I need it to do is filter the basic MIDI CC controllers 0-127 on a per channel basis.

Oh would need an AU version. Not AUv3. For MacOS

Can anyone suggest one?

Thanks

  • Streambyter is free.

It can block CC events on a per channel basis with a few lines of StreamByter script.

If you’re game to learn how to install some Streambyter script in the app someone can easily provide
the lines required to filter out CC events. If you’re not interested then I think you’ll need to buy something like “Midi Tools” ($5) or Mozaic ($10) which also uses scripts to “instruct” the app.

Thanks McD - I did mention I'd need an au one....this is for MacOS. Updated the OP.

streambyter is also on macos, but not free on macos.

  • I know you said it has to be AU, but if you can deal with a little routing outside the app, MidiPipe is free (though you can optionally donate). You can route anything to it and route it to anything. It has all kinds of filtering abilities and a lot more. I use it for tons of things.

Unfortunately Streambyter is $19.99 US for the Mac version. It is an AU though.

(you might want to update the thread title as well to filter out the non-Mac responses if people read too quickly)

btw, which host are you hoping to use this in on the Mac? It makes a difference. I've tried a few MIDI FX AUs and they aren't supported in the hosts that I use. You might need to find a VST.

Or use Midi Pipe (if you can).

  • Thanks WIM, was for Sampletank 4 which, if you can believe it, has no MIDI filter system at all!

Standalone, that Pipeline might work, if used in a host, that would be Camelot Pro as AUM will not run in MacOS and developer has no intention of changing that. So stuck with Camelot for everything.

I found this free VST: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/3-Studio-Tools/67-Virtual-Patchbay/909-MIDI-Polysher
I don't know if it would suit your needs in Camelot Pro though.

[edit] It requires some account creation, etc. I'm not up for going through to test.

Cool, thanks for finding it. No probs would not expect you to test it!! I can do that.Might even end up buying Streambyter, although not sure I can get my head around how it works haha!

Yeh, Streambyter can be a brain bender. A midi CC blocking script is just one simple line though:

    BX = XX +B

Still, I'm not confident that it will work in Camelot Pro. A lot depends on how the host handles routing of midi messages internally. If iOS is any guide, things just don't always work out the way one would expect. It would be a shame to spend the $20 and not have it be suitable for the purpose. Camelot doesn't help by not having a manual.

Personally, I'd give MidiPipe a try first. its a useful thing to have on-hand in any case.
