Synchronized playback of XDrummer with Loopy Pro
I can't quite get XDrummer to work within Loopy Pro and ask you for help.
The XDrummer is inserted as IAA to LP track. I can switch to it from Loopy Pro and vice versa. BPM tempo synchronization is also working. But when I press play button in LP then XDrummer do nothing. The XDrummer's internal play button works.
PS: I tried XDrummer also with GarageBand and it behaved the same, BUT when I press record instead of play, XDrummer starts playback.

This sounds like an x drummer bug or setup issue. IAA apps that support IAA sync connected to Loopy Pro should start and stop with Loopy Pro’s transport.
What sync options does X Drummer have? Loopy Pro can also send midi clock or use Ableton Link
I found only this basic settings in XDrummer, nothing more. There are 2 simple options under "MIDI mapping": XDrummer and GM.

In case of Loopy Pro I enabled XDrummer under "Synchronization"-"MIDI Clock Destinations" and result is the same.
Ableton link in LP configuration was already enabled and I didn't mention that Lumbeat IAA drummers work fine in my LP.
@Jamie_Mallender, you have an XDrummer, don't you?
When you set the tempo in Loopy Pro, does XDrummer correctly show the new tempo?
What is in the midi mapping options?
If you have AUM, what happens when you press its start button when x drummer is loaded in it?
The App Store listing doesn't mention Albleton Link support. 😐
It does list Audiobus support, so if you have Audiobus it would be worth checking whether Audiobus can start and stop the transport.
So missing Ableton link support in XDrummer is the reason why it not reacted to Play in Loopy Pro?
PS: I don't have an Audiobus
Partly. It shows wrong tempo but when I click to BPM button it shows it correctly. Anyway, I hear that the BPM tempo is interpreted correctly, even though it is displayed incorrectly on the main screen

I don't have AUM yet and I feel I need to buy it at the next sale. It would be invaluable for confirming issues I sometimes have.
Not really. However if it did have Ableton Link support then that could be used to control the start/stop.
It sounds as though X-Drummer simply doesn't have full Inter-App audio synchronization enabled. If it doesn't work in GarageBand then that's an additional confirmation.
That seems likely to be only for mapping the notes that can trigger the sounds and/or the midi notes the app sends out. If you're not seeing anything about midi clock then it's likely there's no midi clock support.
Just guessing though.
[edit] This seems to be confirmed from perusing the web site. It also appears the IAA support is mainly intended for getting sounds into X Drummer to record there, not the other way around. I have the feeling that there is no implementation of the IAA protocol for it to start and stop from another host.

OK, thank you @wim and @espiegel123 for your help.
I have asked PG support for clarification. When I get a reply, I'll let you know here.
EDIT: I got a response from PG where asked me for video demonstration and then another response with "I will report this issue to our R&D team for further investigation". It's been 17 days and no other response.
I checked it out. In AUM, it behaves as you describe for garageband. The AUM transport does will start X Drummer if AUM is recording audio but otherwise AUM's transport doesn't affect XDrummer.
Seems like buggy behavior to me, but X Drummer's videos and web site don't talk about using it as a real time drum machine synching with other apps.
Thanks for your findings in AUM, @espiegel123
I do but I abandoned it about the same time as Positive Cash Grab did. It’s such a shame. Potentially a great app that was released half finished and not developed further.
Are there any other drum apps that work with Loopy Pro? I
Hoping it will behave somewhat like a BeatBuddy pedal, but perhaps just a collection of beats that sync with loops. This is for playing on the fly, not prerecorded or playback.

They don't adapt to your playing, but they have a huge number of patterns and styles, can do fills, and have some "jam" randomization. They are IAA apps, not AUv3, so have some of the difficulties and limitations of that format, but they're some of the best drumming apps iOS.
Another good one is Drum Perfect Pro. It's more challenging to learn though. Also not AUv3.
@wim, your "They don't adapt to your playing" reminds me of a question I wanted to ask right after I switched from PC to iPad a year ago. Is there any app that can create a complex drum pattern (or an entire song structure) based on the kick & snare rhythm tapped on the pads or played on external MIDI device?
The closest thing I can think of would be Auto Fills, set to do fills every measure. Or 8 beat fills every two measures, etc. It seems like there are enough parameters you could adjust to get some pretty reasonable results with patience.
Everything else I can think of is just randomization, such as on the Rozeta drum apps and Hammerhead. For instance, you can turn up the mutation on other hits with no notes sequenced in them. But that's not very satisfying for a whole drum part, really.
Thanks @wim. I bought Cem's AutoFills immediately after its release and like it but I don't use it regularly. I'm sticking with Funk Drummer.
Slightly off topic, but is there a standard way to preview/demo ios Apps. Lumbeat has a few, but not all of their apps as a demo.
No.
It's up to developers on an app to app basis to implement any kind of demo period, and it's not straightforward or standard to do so. If you live in the EU, supposedly any refund request within a certain period has to be honored. If you live outside the EU, it's a crap shoot whether or not Apple will approve a refund request, and if you do too many you can even have your Apple ID revoked. So, that's not exactly a viable "demo" method.
Digging up Youtube videos, if they exist, is probably the best way to get a feel for most apps. Asking specific questions here after trying that usually gets helpful responses.
