JWM - Coming Home (Instrumental)
Okay, so here's an instrumental I did a couple weeks back that I finally decided to just upload to SoundCloud. It was originally to be a song with full vocals (most likely autotuned with vocoded backing vocals), but I got stuck on the lyrics. I couldn't decide in which direction to take the words. The concept of "Coming Home" could mean a lot of things - a soldier coming home, a newlywed couple coming home (to a new house or something), flying back to Earth after an epic space adventure (which actually could serve as an allegory/allusion), etc. So f--k it, I'll just release it as-is.
And despite my recent criticisms of NS2 elsewhere, I actually created this in NS2 a couple weeks ago utilising XinematiX for some of the instruments (especially those French Horns). (Of course the point of this thread isn't whether NS2 is good or not. The point is to share the music, so let's keep the focus on that for the love of all that is holy. 😂 )
Mastered in Logic as per usual. Cheers and enjoy.

Well that’s quite a bit different for you! I’d go for military coming home myself, as I think it’s got quite a martial feel to it.
Cool, I like the punchy compressed sounding drums!
It does, doesn't it? Then I think I chose well regarding the cover art I generated. 😅
Thanks mate. That's due in part to Beef on the drum buss.
So, I decided to grab a reasonably-priced Android tablet today via Amazon loan. It is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. I also purchased via Amazon loan a 1TB microSD card (which I read in the specs this tablet supports). (And of course a protective cover.)
The tablet comes with an S-Pen, so I'm ready to use apps such as Medibang and Krita for visual arts. I also plan to create either an EP or an album using only Android since I already have FLSM via the PlayStore. I will also purchase Koala Sampler and its IAPs as well as a few apps mentioned here.

For mastering, I will eventually purchase Cubasis (as well as the Halion sounds and other IAPs once Steinberg @LFS has a new sale), but FLSM has an LuFS meter as does Koala Sampler in its buss mixer.
Now since Android doesn't have any romplers as far as I know, I'll be limited to what's in Android. (I could record oneshots on iOS and export over to Android, but that defeats the purpose of this challenge.)
This is a great tune. I like the drums punch a lot as well. Good source of inspiration whatever brought this to you.
Thanks mate. This was one of my final pieces on iPhone for a while. I'm making a new album on my new Android tablet. Two tracks finished so far.
The intro is…. BAD ASS!!!!!!
You’re moving to Samsung tablet! Great choice - lmk how you like it because I may switch from Apple one day and Samsung galaxy is my go to brand
Hope you have fun with it !
Thanks mate. I try, lol.
Well, there are some caveats. For one thing, you can't access the file structure like you could before Android 11, so you have to rely on app operations to import files and sh-t. It's a limitation, but one I've worked through easily in FLSM at least. I have only the samples I need, including the Deadmau5 Xfer sample pack, my KB6 drum machines, and a handful of other discontinued Image-Line sample packs I simply can't live without.
Everything else comprises of in-app purchases. Very great IAPs too since many necessary sounds like riser sfxs and such are there without having to buy a fancy sample pack like "Sounds of KSHMR" and "Black Octopus'" sample packs to get the job done right.
(Yeah, one tb of storage and yet it seems the audio samples were still imported to internal storage in FLSM, rofl. I should've went for the 128gb tablet. Ah well, lol. Live and learn.)
I'm loving this Android for another thing - the ability to create art in Clip Studio Paint. I could never get on with CSP on my iPad Pro nor Mini, but for some reason I get on with it just fine on my Android. CSP is a subscription, but not the worst sub ever. $9/month for the full-throttle EX version (and I get 3 months free as a new subscriber). It's far more powerful than ProCreate ever will be, and it has two interface modes - the classic mode (which is a clusterf-ck), and the simple mode (which is far more accessible for a tablet user like me).
By the way I just finished a third track in FLSM. That's two music tracks today. In two different styles - one is a more experimental Techno-ish track, and the one I just finished is inspired a little by Crystal Method.
Glad you didn’t add the vocoder vocals. Stands up perfectly well by itself. Good luck with android advanture.
Thanks mate. The Android music adventure is done already lol. Made an album. Now my Android is for art. I created an EP in FLSM on iPhone, and now I'm working on an album in NS2 on iPhone.
EDIT: Also, yeah, autotune vocals would've fit here instead of vocoded, but regardless this instrumental sounds good enough without vocals.
