iPad permanently connected to the charger .. bad thing?

Is it a bad idea to have the iPad permanently connected to the charger? Okay, not permanently, but most of the day. I thought that this dilemma had somehow been solved by current smart devices, but I'm not sure and I don't want to ruin my iPad's battery.

  • Nope, modern Apple devices account for this sort of thing, you should be fine :)

Since my own very old (in relative terms) iPad Pro battery loses power at the rate of 1% every couple of seconds while it's being used, I have it attached to a power supply permanently. ;) It won't hurt your iPad.

  • Thank you @Tarekith and @NeuM for your answers. I'm calm now, and so is my iPad. :)

  • I think it does have an affect on battery life, but not anything that significant. Probably not something to lose sleep over.

  • Just to add one more data point: I have kept mine (two since 2016) connected almost all the time without any problems.

  • Haven’t noticed any problems other than maybe a bit of a weaker battery but that’s irrelevant for me since it’s almost always plugged in when I use it
