Loopy Pro and Lumbeat SuperMetronome GrooveBox Pro - out of sync

Does anybody have SuperMetronome GrooveBox Pro from Lumbeat?
I'm trying it under Loopy Pro where metronome is ON during playing. Even though I have Ableton Link and Sync Start/Stop enabled in GrooveBox, after a few bars I can clearly hear the sync problem with Loopy Pro. I would like to know if anybody else has the same problem before I will contact Luis. The project in Loopy Pro is simple - just one IAA track with GrooveBox, nothing else.

EDIT: I found that BPM in GrooveBox is always one less than I have set in Loopy. If I set BPM 90 in LP, press Play and switch to GrooveBox, I see BPM 89 there. There is also no familiar little Loopy Pro icon in the top left corner, which would allow me to return to LP.

EDIT2: I found something really weird. Sync is OK for some BPM but I can't see any clue why.
100 - OK
99 - out of sync
98 - out of sync
97 - out of sync
96 - OK
95 - out of sync
94 - out of sync

Does it work if you disable Ableton Link?
IAA is supposed to have it's own very accurate sync. It may be possible that's not implemented in that app, but if it is, the two sync methods could be conflicting with each other.

  • Since it is connected by IAA, it may not need Link, and there might be some confusion between Link and IAA. You could try turning off Link in GrooveBox.

If I set Ableton link in GrooveBox to off then press Play in Loopy Pro doesn't start GrooveBox. Also BPM in GrooveBox is not controlled by Loopy Pro.

So, GrooveBox is not a full IAA implementation. That also explains why it doesn't display the Loopy Pro icon.

And it sounds like there's an error in the Link impllementation in GrooveBox. From your data, I'd suspect some sort of rounding error. When the BPM is wrong, is it always one less than the intended value?

  • I think I may remember this one-beat-off problem from a lonnnnggg time ago with another Lumbeat app. Or it could be a completely different app. I'm not sure.

    Yes, always one less.
    Any idea, @LuisMartinez?

Sounds like truncation vs rounding at some point in the calculation of BPM from the value sent by Link.
