AUM and teenage engineering TX-6!!

I know the tx6 gets hated on for its small size and big price 🤣 but I’m telling you this is my favorite piece of gear in 20 years. I travel for work and i am in hotels a lot.. this things amazing for that. And at home i can plug in all my instruments in as stereo, split or mono and get a lot going on.

I wanted to show you this video because you can route the audio out of AUM through all 6 stereo channel’s thru this guy!!! Its like a physical version of aum 😁 ok not really it dosent support auv3s yet ! Haha

Ignore the junk song i just wanted to get something to demo…… and just be amazed by the audio routing! 🤣 all thru the iPads usb-c. It also charges off the iPad, i think i can flip that off and on in the settings as well.

  • I mentioned it a couple of times as options to people who asked for what it does because not many things can do what it does in this size especially but people think the price is too much of a detractor but I know TE is worth the higher price myself

The complex routing you can pull off through this thing is wild, i haven’t encountered a situation yet where i can’t flip some stuff around and get this masterpiece to do what it needs to. Its for sure staying in my studio for the long haul

  • I’m in Vietnam and Thailand for the next 4 months and my portable studio is TX-6, OP-1 Field and IPad. I couldn’t be happier with this setup.

Perfect setup (maybe an OB4 eventually ay lol)

  • I'm about to pick one of these up for other reasons, this just seals the deal :)

That’s a great set up! I’m eyeballing the op1 field. I sold my original op1 to buy my first iPad pro years ago… but really want it back 🤣 i normally travel with the sp404 mk2, te ob-4, te tx-6, mvave MIDI controller, iPad Pro and it all fits in one small backpack

I got a steal on reverb, even came with the decksaver and 6 cables for less than 1000$. You will not regret it man, its made my music life more enjoyable for sure.

You simply must get a field. The op1F is the single greatest piece of musical hardware I’ve ever seen or owned myself ; and you have all peripherals you need already for it. Wow! That’s going to be mega.

I got to jam on one a few weeks ago and it was nothing but fun times. We all know there’s more complex synths and samplers out there, but that dosent even matter.. cuz the op1s just make me want to create stuff and have fun.. and that’s why i do any of this in the first place. I def have all i Need to run a good op1f session 😁

I have but it was a little heavy to pack. Now I wish I had packed it though.

I found a perfect bag for the OB4 on amazon that it fits right into with the handle up. You can get an sp404 or iPad in there with it, TX-6 and all the cables/batteries you need

I’ve been keeping an eye in reverb for awhile, definitely hoping to find a deal there like I did for my Field.

I tried like 6 bags to get the ob4 to fit and this one was the only one and it fits quite well

  • looks great!

the 6 lines are inputs , right? can you change configuration to make some outputs and some inputs?

if it had (non-Bluetooth) MIDI I'd start saving for one

  • Overengineered af but kinda cool because of it. This plus an Elektron Model Samples with 6 Stereo Outs routed into AUM would be great. Are there any smaller sized drum machines with individual outputs and enough hands on controls?

  • M-vave please do similar device. I will pay even $200 😀

I don’t think you can switch the ins to outs… that’s why no one wants him 🤣
But the single out, aux and headphones out all exist

  • It’s ridiculously overpriced when considered in the “small mixer” category, but seriously, no product can ever be assessed on the basis of value-per-feature-from-the-spec-sheet. I love it, and am lucky I was cashed up when I bought it, because there’s no way in hell I’d have the means now.

Of course there are a few products with some feature overlap, but you know, I also loved my Blender, but in terms of its industrial design, the Blender was (comparatively) a piece of junk. I was afraid it would fall apart if I looked at it! Meanwhile the TX-6 is from the OP-1 school of build quality, rather than some other TE products — no bend/fader-gates here, and it’s machined at what seems to be an impossible nanoscale! It’s so reassuringly robust. I’m not sure if the design quality ratio is on par with the price difference when put alongside stuff like the Blender, but the difference is reflected somewhat in the price. No regerts 😂

are those 3 outputs freely assignable? so effectively it has 3 separate outs?

my bank account may or may not like your answer :D

edit: went and checked the manual, from my quick scan the aux out is a separate out that is stereo and can be further split into 2 mono signals. i guess headphone/cue out replicates a chosen one of these or main?

very cool piece of kit, unfortunately I always need my audio interface to have double duty as MIDI interface

  • Yeah i think it’s just Bluetooth MIDI but I’m not sure what it’s capable of actually doing…i just got mine but i know you can control most of the functions with a bt MIDI controller

  • I’m going to see what i can do with the tx6 and loopy pro
