Midi Fighter Twister implementation in Loopy Pro

Hey all, Im just getting into loopy Pro and I am enamored. Its the best feeling i've had towards looping tech in many many years. Im so happy to be investing time and energy to migrating over here. My setup is coalescing and I am experimenting with different control schemes.

I do love the ergo of the midi twister and wanted to ask a few questions to those who may be more familiar with it. I am only getting loop start/stop actions available to me. I see the colors aligning with the controller and the encoder light following track length. But as far as control I would love to be able to twist the knob for volume and maybe do some sort of hold for overdub... maybe there are other ways to get into deeper control like push and twist too...

I assume there are deeper implementations that i've either not discovered or have not been developed yet. Any advisement from the gallery would be so appreciated!

CHEERS :)

Use midi learn to learn additional actions.

Thank you for the swift response. At the risk of sounding pedantic: Yes, this has been attempted. I can easily modify page 2-3-4 of twister to accommodate any custom actions. But trying to just bind twist to volume did not work properly. Implementing it this way broke the script or whatever is running the twister page automatically via Loopy. It seems to work for a moment then both the new custom volume control and the default push button functionality and encoder loop position just freezes and breaks on the twister.

I think this may be a question that is development related.

@Michael -- any sage wisdom on the scenario. Many thanks

I’m following this closely. I used loopy original a lot, and just never got into Loopy Pro as my workflow changed, but I own a twister so I’m eager to see how this works out.

If you would like me to test some stuff happy to try.

  • Ahh, I see that deeper in the control settings you can customize how the Twister behave, allowing me to choose if the knob/leds show loop location or volume control or set it to just allow for custom CC message. It lets me also choose what to do for Click, Double Click and Hold of buttons! Its really powerful and i love this Implementation. What I would REALLY love is to be able to use one of the side buttons to toggle the modes for twist. Go between Volume, Loop location, pan and any other custom param you can think of.

I believe if you look on YouTube , there are some videos about loopy/mft

  • Just got a MFT, awesome device!
Tried with loopy in both standalone and as auV3 and both cases does something strange: colors don’t bind to the mft, the led rings work and show playback position, but when touch I any of the knobs goes mad is like sending consecutive plays rec parameters.
My mft is in lastest firmware revision, and tries doing a factory reset. Btw, the launchpad mini is working fine… Loopy pro lastest beta

  • In my experience, the MFT is testy with loopy pro. It does work but you have to set up your session to work around its idiosyncrasies.

Is it possible that a feedback loop has been created? Are you sending any midi messages to the MFT?

If you are using the Loopy Pro beta and having problems, please share the details with us over on the Slack channel we’ve set up. DM me if you aren’t sure how to access the Slack.

  • perfect timing to get it fixed in the beta version.

nope, in aum there is MIDI connections made, the same when using LP standalone. sending you a pm about slack!
