  • Been looking into this since I saw it mentioned in the sales thread. Now itching to get home and buy it because, holy smokes, it's awesome. I'm liking this new effect paradigm - like XVox, just a couple of controls and lots of cleverness going on behind the scenes. Good results fast.

    Hey, this looks interesting.. I only wonder why it is a striped down version of the original?

    Yes, the desktop plugin has more controls and sells for a lot more money (9x). We wanted to make the iPad version a lot more affordable, so we took the most used controls that leverage the best technology in Master Plan (loud, wide) for the AUv3. The App Store description says “streamlined” and the pictures show all the controls, but we can update the description and do not want it to be misleading in any way.

    The loud knob pushes volume up but limits it to prevent peaks in the final master. We have the post-limiter output locked in the iPad version because Stan and the majority of our desktop users don’t change the output level, but we can look into adding it if it will help you make better masters.

    I’ll have to look into it, but I understand what you’re saying. It’s not the coding so much as reconfiguring where things go when the interface resizes and things get super small. Nothing is more frustrating than when touch controls make you feel like you can’t get at the control you want to.

    Understandable. If you had the full version with that bottom strip I could see it being an issue. The streamlined version on iPad would fit an iPhone Pro Max screen seamlessly it seems. I will buy one it's available for iPhone as this limiter looks awesome and probably sounds awesome too.

    That’s definitely an option! I do want people happy with the initial purchase though, so I’ll make sure to think it through.

    This is not meant as anything but a bit of user feedback on iOS - I will have to do the refund if the controls mentioned are missing. That’s really most of the functionality and why I bought it (my fault for not checking) - I appreciate the basic controls being there but we have a huge array of excellent inexpensive mastering apps from fabfilter and toneboosters etc on iOS and it does kind of reduce it to a mastering preview app as the first post says,

    I understand the pricing but it’s just the nature of things that iOS pricing is scaled down a great deal without such large compromises in function

    Anyway thanks for coming on the forum and engaging

    To add, the reason I’m disappointed and it’s not for me as is, is that I watched a couple of videos on YouTube and I think a fully functional version is exactly right for me, and particularly given the ecosystem, a good iOS fit like the recent QVox app. So it’s because I think it’s a great product on desktop. I wouldn’t pay for a reduced version but I would pay a bit more for a full version.

    I don't think you have a very strong point there, many (most) developers release exact copies of their desktop plugins to iOS and still, the price is around 10x less. The reasons for it are many but one strong one is that you can't sell your license like you often can with a VST/AU.

  • Hey there! Sam, I have a question that probably gives away how inexperienced I am when it comes to mastering and Master Plan itself, but here it goes: what kind of plugins you think should go together with the streamlined version in the mastering chain in order to compensate for the functions that are absent? A compressor or saturation plugin, perhaps? And I don’t mean that in a negative way: having an app that can replace a few of them, even if not all, in my mastering chain will probably make wonders for me in terms of saving me some time, since I’m about to become a dad. 👶🏻
