MIDI routing in Logic Pro v2 - quick demo
This short video shows how you can now route MIDI between tracks in Logic Pro v2 (the fact you couldn't do this in v1 was a big omission IMO).
To route MIDI just open the inspector in the destination track and select an internal MIDI channel from the inspector panel menu.
The video shows how you can route the MIDI from a Session Pianist to a Vintage Keys track, change all the parameters in realtime, and then record the result.

Great, thank you 🙏
Nice! Thank you
Thanks Richie!
Although it seems like AI Session Players is a gimmick (if you listen to haters of Logic), but, holy jesus, it’s very deep and complex what we can achieve with the new Logic iPad/Mac!
Concerning MIDI routing, wish we had an easier matrix a la AUM in Logic, but, as you said, it’s better in version 2.0 that v1…
On desktop there was the old environment, but on iPad there was no MIDI routing at all in Logic v1.
Thanks for the demo!. This is gonna make things a lot easier. I use custom drum samples, either Drambo or Logic drum rack thingy, you could already use drummer tracks but it was a very odd method at adding, replacing… With this midi routing everything makes a lot more sense.
Probably my favorite feature of the update and about the only one I’d consider “Pro”. The AI players are fun and all but there’s a ton of stuff missing on Logic that I believe should be addressed before these fancy but not really necessary gadgets.
@tahiche yes the MIDI routing is also my favourite new feature, and a much bigger deal to me than most of the other stuff.
One thing that made me sorry when going thru the version 2.0 of Logic, that’s the lack of freely draw/paint Note Velocity in the MIDI editor…
If I have Pianoteq v8 and have a lot of nice MIDI-notes, I’ve got +90 different parameters to automate, BUT, not Note Velocity??!!
Apple is working irrationally with Logic Pro for iPad - MIDI routing, Note Velocity etc etc is basic core functions that should have been in version 1 or at least v.1.1…

And warp time editing, and Flex Pitch… now these are the kind of features I’d consider “pro”. Auria could do warp time edit points, and that was ages ago.
Don’t get me started on Auria ‘Pro’. I can’t think of a more amateurish feeling app. To say I hated it would be an understatement. The MIDI handling was particularly lamentable.
