Rescue recorded speech with Adobe AI!

I was looking for a tool that might help improve the audio from a project I worked on back in 2007. The project was basically interviews and the audio quality was atrocious, as it was captured in a cavernous room with buzzing fluorescent lights.

I quickly found Adobe's podcast AI tool, which was formerly called Project Shasta. It is astonishingly good, and completely automatic. I have posted a sample below, and the only thing I did was edit the EQ after converting. This is a free tool, although there are some daily quotas unless you choose to subscribe to Adobe Express Premium.

As this tool is intended to clean up speech, I also discovered that if you feed music through it you can get some interesting vocalisation effects as it tries to reconstruct the music as speech! There's a bit of this at the end of the video.

    I'm surprised nobody's picked up on this! Adobe's subscription licences make no sense for casual users, of course, but you can do a lot with the free stuff. Another practical example is my NoInputMixer video, which had a terrible quality narration because I accidentally recorded it without headphones. I just uploaded a fixed version made with the Adobe tool.

    Adobes cloud-based service is the devil's spawn. They already made the subscribers agree to new terms regarding machine learning. i love machine learning but not when other people can look onto my PC and take want they like.
