Retrospective recording - Is there a skipback AUv3 app on iOS?
The Skipback feature on the SP-404 Mk2 and the Rolling Sampler app on Mac are constantly recording into a buffer which can be saved to a sample at any time, meaning you can hit record after discovering a happy accident instead of stopping, hitting record, and trying to recreate it. Is there an AUv3 app that can do this on iOS? On Mac, Rolling Sampler works as an audio effect and can be placed anywhere in a session, either on the Master or on any track - this is the kind of thing I'm after. Both SP-404 Skipback and Rolling Sampler allow the setting of start and end points at the time of saving a sample from the buffer to the drive.

Loopy Pro
Glitchcore has a small buffer
Molli looper has a 32 beat memory too
Yes Loopy Pro has an even larger buffer than SP-404 I believe
Thanks for responses - will follow up
You might like this loopy template I made for this purpose. You have to be quick to push the buttons. You can do a long retro loop then reloop a shorter segment though. It also has some other goodies baked in. Speed/reverse then resample etc...

+1 for MolliLooper and Glitchcore are a lot of fun. I'd love to have the retro recorders in Dawnbeat and Endlesss as an AUV3s. Maybe MolliLooper is the best option.
Any DAW or AUv3 host that can record the output of an AUv3 plugin works. Just add a delay or multiple delays until you have the desired pre-buffer length.
I've used this a few times in Drambo when recording from web radio.
That is a lot of delays if you want a reasonably long look back.
Pretty much all of my loopy pro projects also include a loopy AU instance with 1 minute of look back. I think I have cranked it as high as 6 minutes.
Here it is running standalone but usually it is hiding in other projects.
Sure, if you really need such long delays...

This looks awesome def trying this out !
Cool video of this feature, cheers.
Endlesss
Note, but only for MIDI.
Hopefully we see a good 30/60 second skip back recording on all DAWs in the future.
Midi capture is amazing for me on Ableton, an audio version would be sweet.
Between Push and Note, I’ve gotten to the point I don’t even hit the record button anymore. I just jam and if I end up with something good I just hit Capture after the fact. I don’t know why, but I find it a much more liberating way to get those initial ideas down.
Very glad to learn earlier today this is also in Logic Pro for iPad, yay.
You can custom build a loopy layout and use it in Endlesss. Just load it as a effect.
You can't scale the UI in Endlesss because you are limited to small area, which you can optimize using a custom Loopy Project.
