Capture from buffer on Logic Pro for iPad 2.0

According to the manual of Logic Pro 2, you can capture a recent performance and record it, even if recording was not active at the time (basically record from buffer). Has anyone done this successfully? I've tried it and can't quite get it to work.

From the Logic Pro iPad 2.0 Guide:

"It’s possible to capture your most recent MIDI performance, even if Logic Pro for iPad wasn’t recording while you were playing. You can use Capture Recording whether in playback mode or stopped."

  • Hi there!

    For me this working instantly…

Check out this video how to do it on Mac Logic…

    Good luck!

This guy, Josh, have done +300 instruction videos on his channel, and, they are supergreat, mostly because he’s a real musician and composer with years of higher education on music theory…

  • Sweet, I use Capture recording in Live almost exclusively these days. Very happy to see we can do this in Logic on the iPad, which I’ve been using A LOT lately. Thanks.

Does anyone know what the upper record limit is?

I ended up going down the rabbit hole on his channel. Def solid and going to learn more logic from him!

Yeah, terrific and very skilled this guy, Josh Carney!

Hundreds and hundreds of great videos done by him since the beginning 2011 - first MusicTechHelpGuy video was a Logic Pro v9 tutorial - the gui and app/os feels really ancient!

Today I tested this, limitations to Capture Recordings into Logic Pro for iPad.

Although I never reached the limitation, I could capture an piano sequence I played on my MIDI keyboard - that was 80 bars in 120 tempo, 2 minutes and 30 seconds…

Pretty neat… But the limit is certainly much much way that figures…

  • Thanks, that’s long enough for my needs.
