AUM newbie question
Hey,
I haven’t used AUM a lot so I'm still new to it. Lately I use it to have ChordPolyPad chords play Tardigrain and just record jams in audio. Simple set-up
But I can’t manage to record new samples within Tardigrain AU (that works fine in the standalone app). So in order to record new samples, I need to launch Tardigrain standalone, record new stuff and then restart AUM so that new samples appear in Tardi AU.
Things I've checked:
- AUM’s Input source is set to Ipad mic
- AUM has access to mic in iPad’s preferences
- In AUM, I tried setting a track set to Hardware Input/ipad mic before Tardigrain but it didn’t help
Thanks a lot for any help

@stelvio
To record the into Tardigrain inside AUM (or another host), you need to load the „ Tardigrain AU FX“ or „Tardigrain AU MFX“ into an FX slot a channel. (The MFX variant allows to route midi input of notes and CCs into the plugin).
Add the source you want to record into the instrument slot of that channel (ie MIC other synth or a file player), then you can monitor/record that input.
After recording and tweaking you can save the settings using Tardigrains save menu. This makes the preset available to the other Tardigrain AU variants (ie for instance for the „Tardigrain AU“ that‘s loaded into an instrument slot) and also in other hosts.
If you save the preset using AUMs preset system, its only available inside the variant that you used for creating it
Thanks a lot, super helpful I'm going to try this tonight (with MFX since I need Midi in)! I'm glad to hear it's possible.
@stelvio I have added a screenshot to my initial post showing the mic to Tardigrain setup.
To avoid feedback during mic recording, i simply slide the SPKR node to the left. After recording is finished, i slide it back to hear what i have recorded. If you use headphones, you usually don‘t get feedback from the mic.
Yesss it worked! Super happy, love this minimal combo! Thx again
Is the arming of tracks something that can't be saved? I need to re-arm the track every time I load the session

Sorry, i don’t understand what you are asking. Which track do you re-arm ? AUMs channel output by tapping the (R) besides the output node ? That status isn‘t saved in a session as far as i remember. Or do you mean the ‚record‘ status of Tardigrain ?
yea I meant the r/REC beside the output node, ok good to know it can't be saved in a session, thx again
