Looking for iOS friendly auto interface where the headphone output can be a “channel”
Basically I’m trying to rig up a DJ mixer setup.
I want to be able to send the cue to headphones as a discrete output when needed.
I get that any multichannel out will work but it will require a separate mixer/headphone amp, and I’d like just one unit…
I don’t think it exists, but figured I’d ask….

Have you considered portable DJ mixers like the Reloop Mixtour or TraktorKontrol Z1? Those have class compliant built in audio interfaces and some MIDI controls for their software. Afaik they are not restricted to their DJ apps apart from the MIDI controls and the features you want should work independent of that.
Cheap and cheerful way to do it is a DJ mono splitter cable.
Something like this

This only works if your DJ software has it as a feature though.
From what I understand the Scarlett focusrite audio interfaces allow to create a custom mix per output, headphones output included. Watch some videos on the focusrite control 2, their routing app and see if that fits your need. At least they advertise it as:
That’s handy to know and look into, I am considering one of those.
The Iconnect audio interfaces will do it and much more.
It has a built in analogue mixer that you can route its digital signals to how you like, including headphones.
I think you would be better off with a Dj bit of kit though, for the faders etc.
Behringer Flow 8 is quite flexible. But read about what it does.
Presonus Studio 26c I believe does this easily, it has 2 x stereo output and the headphone output can be switched (by a button press) to monitor either.
I’m sure there are other interfaces which give thought to DJ usage, IIRC one of the Steinberg interfaces.
the NI Komplete Audio 6 Mk2 (https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/audio-interfaces/komplete-audio-6/) is currently $160 at Sweetwater. 6x6, 2 digital, with a switch on the front to select outputs 12 or 34 for the headphones. designed to be bus powered only. i have the original & it works fine directly connected to an M1 ipad pro, or through a usb c hub. the pushbutton headphone select switch on the original is a bit nicer imo. they might be available used.
Possibly the tx6 from teenage engineering
Was this not built into audiobus? Use your iPad headphone out as a second stereo out.
