Definitely hearing a bit of those French impressionist guys. There was another, not nearly as well known as Debussy and Ravel, but really good. Have you heard much by Francis Poulenc? He wrote a piece called Melancolie. This reminds me little bit of that. It sounds completely improvised, but it’s scored out note for note. Have you ever thought about offering any of your material as sheet music?
How is the Cicada situation by you? I saw my first last night, and just saw about 10 more as I sit here typing. Oops, make that 11. They are lazy, and not very bright. I wonder if anyone has come up with a recipe for a crunchy snack using them. They are probably high in protein, but they are butt ugly.
Someday there will be an AI savy notation app that can locate the pulse by the context of the notes. Until then it would take a human to note this lovely music that ebbs and flows so gracefully.
But I could have fun with the midi track if this one.
@Paulieworld heard the first cicadas last night.expecting big things to come!
I’ll send you the midi on Dropbox @McD
Have a great weekend, guys.
Yes, I could imagine the horrible mess AI would make of the lovely flow of this piece. There’s certainly not going to be an AI version of @LinearLineman in the foreseeable future.
Very nice. I hope it gets re-recorded on an acoustic piano…
“He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names.” Ps. 147:4
We could just feed the 100 albums of @Linearlineman’s music into the “Large Music Model” to train the AI and generate new work at will and hopefully without a cease and desist from Mike.
It’s also an option for @echoopera, @Paulieworld or any other prolific ABF creator.
“”All your bass are belong to us.”
Thanks, as always, @michael_m
Thanks @SanAnto7 unfortunately, it will never be played on a great acoustic instrument because it was improvised and I can’t repeat it. The midi could be transcribed to notation but it would take me a long time to learn how to play it! Still, Pianoteq does a pretty good job, I think.
@McD , lol, then the software could feel unlistened to. (Btw, I’m up to 7500 plays in 30 days on SoundCloud. Aiming for 10k. Loving the irony of the insignificance).
Sitting here shaking my head trying to think of something profound or clever to say but I can’t. That was beautiful. Just beautiful.
Thanks for the praise @MadeofWax. Have a peaceful Sunday.
I like it a lot too ,(I understand the title, at points it has a Debussy feeling)
Mike shared the MIDI with me and I configured playback in AUM with 7 apps.
I DID NOT CHANGE ANY NOTES. I just split the midi into streams for bass, midis and highs:
It would be interesting for me to provide the AUM Project to Mike and have him improvise with an orchestra. But… old dogs, new tricks. If he didn’t hear a piano could he
loose himself in the improvisation?
Thx @yellow_eyez Appreciate your continued listening, bro.
@McD that’s very good. You definitely added something to it. I’ll see what else ou might like fiddling with. BTW, I see you’ve got over 700 tracks on SoundCloud. How did I miss all those? I listened a bunch and liked many. Especially TV Dinner. Why not make some albums?
This is really good! I love to listen to various interpretations of a composition. I’ll bet that was fun!
Thx @Paulieworld Actually, I named it after the fact. As I improvised I recognized what I was doing but it wasn’t predetermined. Hope the day is peaceful and satisfying for you two.
+1 what @MadeofWax said 🙏
Thank you @GeoTony. Channeling the Beatles is fun.
