I paid for Patterning 1 AND Patterning 2 ,now I am glad to pay again for Patterning 3 .

It is a high quality app with a huge library available so in some ways worth the new $30 price.

  • I like it when there's a bundle for that.

That said, the developer has every right not to give a discount.

Here’s the amazing thing: You don’t have to!

Also, there was long presale ($19.99) and then a shorter discount ($24.99).

It’s not a cheap app, but it is incredibly deep. And if you consider that it essentially comes with 600+ kits, it’s kind of a deal.

  • You have the option to not upgrade, I suppose. Their pricing is whatever they want it to be.

  • Nope, you can just keep using version 2.

I’ve never got the loyalty thing.
I bought patterning when it came out, same with patterning 2 and paid next to nothing. I have the other apps as well. P2 has been out well over 5 years. I may have used it a lot, I will most likely continue using it, but I wouldn’t say that makes me a loyal customer. It’s not like using the same coffee shop.

I understand the frustration of paying for what seams like an update. (I genuinely haven’t looked at P3) Especially when other apps update free.

I may be wrong but I don’t think payment plans are an option on App Store. I don’t know if they can charge separately for people who have P2. Actually that may be possible I think Auria do that, but that might be from lite. It’s technically the same app maybe.

So based on that, I think their options are upgrade within that app and change price (there may be reasons that’s not feasible.) or charge for a new distinct app.
Of course, as others have said, I still have P2, at the moment I’m ok with that.

Each generation has involved a lot of work and provided expanded functionality. I don’t think it fair to imply that the developer is not appreciative of his customers.

I feel like I have definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it for the 6 years I used P1 and P2. And P3 will get even more new features in the years till P4 happens.

A discount bundle for Patterning 2 owners would be nice, yes, but you're not entitled to a discount. Sorry, but that's the way it works.

  • You said it , the appreciation after version 1 and version 2 is 33% off pre ordering version 3 for two months before release

This app is def worth $20 (on sale even if you think $30 is too high), so why not buy it when it was on sale? Clearly you are familiar with it and you might guess by this time this version is a big upgrade.

Plus, while we’re at it, why is Logic subscription? Why can’t we purchase it or why do people who own desktop Logic Pro 11 not get to use the iPad version for free when it’s not even the full Logic software ?
Logic should be free for owners lmao

  • Is there anything that can be done with belocity in this app? ?

  • I’ve bought FIFA about 25 times and for half of them they only updated the names. This seems very reasonable.

It baffles me to see people crying over 20 dollars for such a great app. Unreal. I bought it all 3x and I’ll buy it when version 4 comes out. If you purchased a BMW three years ago do you think they would give you a discount when the new one ships?

  • Its like buying new shoes ya know.. the next pair ain’t free just cuz they got some new ones 😉

  • If any disagree with the original post, focus on the opinion, not the person expressing the opinion. It’s fine to voice a concern or complaint about an app. That’s the right of the consumer. You don’t have to attack the person if you disagree.

I also disagree with this - it ain’t a big deal to pay another +20 bucks for such a great app as Patterning v3…

Put it in context with the Cubasis fanbase - they paid for v1, they paid again for v2, and, another amount of cash for v3 - nothing special with that, that’s how a normal “capitalistic” system works…

  • I’m on the old bandwagon that there should be demo versions available - particularly for the more expensive ones, or at the very least a two minute video - or else refunds should be freely available on request for up to a week or so. There are many people who feel uncomfortable asking for refunds on anything like a regular basis.
Not only that, they should come with a reasonable manual.
The ‘be fair to the devs’ sentiment is admirable, but it should work two ways.

But, here in Europe we already have an “demo-mode” to apps - we can make a refund request up to 14 days after purchase if we are unsatisfied with the app, or, the description of the app didn’t make up to reality…

Perhaps I should make an more clear explanation, only in countries belonging to the European Union can request a refund, so, hav’nt any clue how it works in UK because they have left EU (bastards!)…

We still have the right to refund in the UK 👍

  • It took me a few comments to even understand this thread. Just a tip: if someone opens a thread and massively edit the initial post later on…please let the reader know or just delete everything. it‘s just bullshit otherwise. Sorry for the harsh words.

  • Seriously. Don’t apologize, @Crabman. What a childish, dick move on the part of the OP. This place got so weird.

And as for this _ other _ guy with the global-cabal conspiracy theories—is this, like, some side quest I haven’t picked up on? Like some incomprehensible NPC who keeps appearing in a video game babbling conspiratorially until you realize, Oh, he’s how I get to the next level!

If I engage this ranting will I unlock dRambo?

I’m sure it is worth more than the price.. Auv3?

Hav’nt notice that this thread goes from immature complains to wake up calls from some users here that explain for OP that he’s totally wrong…

And then change the initial post, both headline and the opinion on the topic - come on, erase this thread, it’s just about nothing to save here…
    And then, grow up. Now.

Yeah, you can definitely see what @flowtilla originally posted via quotes in replies to this pretty much pointless thread. And they changed the thread title and what was said. Nice try but once something is posted to the internet, it tends to stay online in one form or another.

But I think flowtilla learned their lesson, so benefit of the doubt this time.

Hehe yah, that is pretty much the only reason I came back to this silly thread a few times. Chaos can be fun.

  • @flowtilla I don’t think your OP was out of line at all and no need to edit it. It’s a fair discussion and one that developers should get used to navigating. And nobody has the final answer when it comes to pricing. There are all sorts of apps at different tiers of pricing and different levels of DSP coding and UI design etc. So it has to come down to your own personal budget and what you are willing to spend.

For me, P3 is unique enough to warrant the cost. It is a very inspiring app. One thing to remember is that it’s not only an AUv3 port, new features were added also (with more being worked on I think)
