Earwax… now with “vocals”
Just a little nonsense track I whipped out while sitting on my patio after a tasty lunch of Beef Shawarma, Hummus, and a few cool, refreshing adult beverages. So, with that in mind…
Excuse me while I whip this out.
Happy Memorial Day!

lol, Paul. Sounds like you’ve had a fulfilling Memorial Day. Maybe even one to remember! Peace, brother.
It’s always fun to hear how you put things together. A danceable beat , some cool guitar riffs, some fun vocal bits and a great little breakdown right there in the middle. All perfectly blended into a very cool tune.
The food alone made me interested. (Shawarma maybe my favorite sandwich )
Good dance type stuff with a crazy guitar riff - looks like it was a good day for you man ! Good to know
Thanks, MIke. It was a very nice, relaxing weekend. Hope yours was, too! Peace!
Hi Mac! This one was was fun just for the sake of fun. It was originally going to be a Riffler shredder metal fest but turned into a dance song. I tried putting some speed licks on it, but they didn't sound right. Hope you and family had a great weekend!
We love that type of food. Our favorite is Pitaville in Naperville. They have the best Hummus I've ever tasted. A little bit of a drive, but worth it. I got a large order so I have enough for lunch today. Yumm! Thanks for listening. Have a good one!
That was superb! A top notch groove paired with tasty guitar and an overall great vibe.
Thanks, Jim. Have a great weekend!
I found a vocal track to go with this. It’s still nonsense, just more.
whoa! i never heard it without the vocals. but the vocal version sounds nuts! i like it. i imagine this as something a much younger me would’ve blasted in his car to set the tone for shenanigans. thanks for sharing.
where do people get their vocal tracks? i have some free vocal samples, but they are usually just short phrases or a word or two. do you just isolate from other songs or is there another way?
I have found several at a site called Looperman. They range from a few short phrases, to complete songs. They have a wide variety of styles, not just rap. They call them Acapellas. They categorize them by criteria such as genre, male, female, bpm and key (although the last two are often inaccurate). I usually just download one and load it into track one in Cubasis, then I start adding drum. bass, and other rhythm bits on subsequent tracks. When I have everything roughed out from start to finish, I start adding other bits, deleting others, and adding effects. That's the fun part!
Using acapellas allows me to add "vocals" to my instrumental tracks. People seem to like vocals. Probably not that important on ABF, as this is primarily for instrumental music. I would sing it myself, but I haven't sang in over 20 years! I have a very good EV RE20 mic packed away somewhere, but I have decided to use only an iPad and headphones. I also have a few nice keyboards with MIDI capability, but that would require additional hardware to connect it all. From past experience, I know that would lead to more and more gear, and a dedicated room for a "studio". I like being able to take my "studio" anywhere, any time. Most of the time, I just like to sit out on the patio in my comfy chair.
Thanks for listening. Hope to hear some original music from you soon. Have a great day!
ah, looperman. ok, i will give it a look. thanks for the info. i like your process of making music around the ‘done’ vocals. seems like a nice way to play around.
yeah, i don’t know why but vocals seem to add another dimension to songs. not better not worse just “another” if that makes sense.
hopefully i get around to finishing something instead of being in this ‘learning and screwing around’ phase.
“Learning and screwing around” is not a phase. It’s a way of life. It’s the goal. Don’t worry about finishing everything. I have second thoughts about everything I post. Don’t be shy. Post some stuff and get in the game. You are among friends, bro. We’re glad you’re here.
awesome way of looking at it. thanks for the encouragement! is soundcloud one of the better choices for sharing here?
Soundcloud works pretty well for me. It makes it very easy to share your music on the forum. All you have to do is copy the URL into the comment text and it just appears. The Preview function allows you to test the link. A basic Soundcloud membership is free and lets you post up to 3 hours of music. At first, I thought that would be more than enough. LOL! When I decided that this would be my new hobby, I upgraded to Next Pro.
I hope you decide to go for it. There are plenty of people around here that would love to help you in any way they can. It's a cool place to hang out. Enjoy the rest of your day!
