Audient ID24 Thread and I/O options in iOS devices

I've been seing a lot of discussion related to the Audient ID14 mkII and was wondering if anyone here is using the later bigger brother, the Audient ID24 with iOS devices.

From what I can gather, the ID14 mkII doesn't save the interface state so as soon as you turn the device off, it will forget it's settings and in an iOS device it will only show as a 2in2out interface.

I've found that the hack is: you don't power it off, disconnect it from the computer and connect directly to your iOS device and the ID14 mkII saves it state and will recognize all the inputs in your iOS device.

I was wondering if this behaviour was present in it's later bigger brother the ID24 released in 2023.

From what I gathered, only the ID4 and the ID4 mk II are recognized to be, not only standalone but iOS compatible by Audient:

Anyhow, any experience with the ID24? I'm looking to replace my zoom h4n with something a bit better but struggling to find the best option around the 300e range that fulfills my desktop and iOS needs.

Thanks everyone in advance!

  • Hi, I can confirm the Audient ID24 loses its settings when powered off. You have to turn up the 1-2 outputs with the main pot to hear anything each time you turn it on.

When powered by a PD USB hub, it can be setup by ID software on a computer, then plugged to an iOS device with the correct setting, as long as it keeps its power from the hub. Then it works properly on iOS.

Even if you don't do this and turn it on directly on the iOS device, all inputs and outputs are accessible. They appear on Cubasis.

However by default the 8 ADAT outputs all mirror the same signal : the main mix, so they have no use. I have asked Audient about this and they won't change it. I'm pretty sure a simple firmware upgrade would correct this. Just a matter of disconnecting the ADAT outputs from the main mix.

  • I do hope all iOS Audient users send feedback to Audient asking for their controller apps to be made available for iOS!

When I asked for it a few years ago when I got my ID4mk2 I got a reply that there was currently no customer demand for it but they would look into it...

I'm quite sure they could quite easily knock up a controller app for iOS that supported all their current devices if there was enough requests for it?!

  • Yes, let’s ask Audient for an ID app on iOS !
