Koushion Step Sequencer with ThumbJam - STR US
I just got this after an excellent recommendation from @thinds and did a run down using multiple ThumbJam instruments to get a track going. Really fun app and it had slipped under my radar I guess, never knew about it. Updates are coming soon I know as well, cc control first and possibly per step gate/velocity after that.

Thanks a lot for the video @CSwinn. I had no idea a) it had 8 tracks or b) you could chain patterns together. This just shot up the 'check out' list.
Thanks for watching @syrupcore! If you use the simultaneous setting in some of your banks you could add even more tracks should you need it too. I'm really impressed by its simple yet bountiful control options.
Does it do anything besides 4/4 time signatures? Can you set the last step or are all patterns the same length?
Curious about this as well
There's nothing other than 4/4 for now, but I just got a message from the developer saying,
Yes, more quantization options are coming in a future update so you can do triplet or similar quantizations. That update will also likely include adjustable loop points so you can move the start and stop point on each scene.
I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to slave Koushion to another sequencer or daw, it just never seems to work! Ideally I'd be sequencing some hardware with MidiSequencer, and sequencing IOS synths from Koushion. Koushion never appears in Midibridge for me to slave though! Gah! Any ideas anybody?
I'm not having any luck with Koushion, midiSequencer, and MidiBridge. Try emailing the developer from within Koushion, he's been very accessible for my questions.
Same here. It won't sync to midibus. Maybe it is only IAA sync, it is worth a try.
Nah - back to Nordbeat sequesing Strokrmachine...
This was just updated to 4.0, now with cc automation and iOS 8-ness.
Looks like didn't get around to adding AB unfortunately. Maybe a few emails might nudge him along for the next update? I know it was a feature he was considering.
@CSwinn Thanks for this Colin. Slipped under your radar back then and had slipped under mine also until now. Have been determined to not overlook (read: forget to use) Thumbjam and this looks like it might be a good kick to do so. Any further thoughts on this app, six months on from your demo? Do you actually use it sometimes? If not what do you find your sequencer of choice to be these days?
I used it a few times after this demo for sure, mostly with Thumbjam, they're a perfect fit together. It just got an update last week or something so I may have to dust it off.
I've honestly been so caught up in Adobe land lately that the only app I've used uh, "seriously", in months has been Gadget/Module. I've kind of found myself in app choice overload and now when I go to play I like the self contained environment.
Thanks for the feedback. And, yeah, I hear you on The Gadg. It's a pretty balance of needs must.
@cswinn same here but it's NanoStudio for me (same reasons though).
@syrupcore What's your best guess on NS getting an update? Not when so much as if?
JGY , you should try Koushion with Gadget, It run twince fast the tempo of Gadget. I have no Iidea how to record the pattens back to Gadget as exactly as Gadget. they synch well even the gate and velovity ok. Just the Tempo problem. That is why I don't use Koushion.
@Kaikoo Interesting thought. I'll certainly take a look.
Happening? Yes, 100%.
When? TBD. Still hopeful for this year but just from forum comments I can tell it's an ambitious undertaking (and he's fairly and understandably tight lipped about new features after having been burned before, cough, Intua). For perspective, you can run 15 Eden instances on an Iphone 3Gs which, to me anyway, translates to: a fella who takes the time to do it right. Alas, 'right' costs time.
@syrupcore Thanks. Got time. The way I see it I'm not planning on dying just yet and I'll be better at what little I'm doing by the time he's good and ready
