Mr Galaktic - Year of Rain
Long time lurker, first time poster - made something I'm pretty happy with last night.
This was made in Cubasis on an iPad Pro, starting to come around to it after growing annoyed with the limitations of Korg Gadget.
In terms of sounds, there's pads on the Model 15, and bass is on the built-in Minilogue VA in Cubasis. Leads were done on a MicroFreak + NTS-1, drums are a Drumbrute Impact, percussion is Skaka. Vocals were recorded through a SM58 into a cheapo Behringer tube pre-amp, then processed using Brusfri, Espresso and Waves Tune RT. Mastering is MagicDeathEyeStereo and the Cubasis built-ins.
The mix came out a little bass heavy, guess I should invest in a subwoofer for the studio.
Curious to hear your thoughts!

This is a nice and chill song. Definitely got the vibe down for Chillwave.
A little critique regarding the mastering, I do think the overall mix needs a little boost in the high end, like using a hi shelf EQ around 4kHz to slightly elevate the high end by 1 or 2dB. Otherwise it sounds just a little muffled.
However, the mix itself sounds great. I can hear all the parts, and the drums are nice and punchy, and the vocals are clear.
Anyways welcome to the ABF!
Thanks @jwmmakerofmusic, that’s really helpful feedback!
Really appreciate your posts on this forum throughout the years, you (and others) convinced me setting up a studio around an iPad is viable.
Thank you. I try to be as nice about critiquing as possible but still get to the heart of the matter.
I appreciate the fact you've finally decided to join up and become part of the group.
Great first time post… perhaps a bit bass heavy as you say but I didn’t find it overpowering on headphones. Liked the vocal sections (unusual for me) and the overall ‘tune’ 👍
