NC Companion - new app for Novation Circuit (Tracks and OG)

Hi everyone, I've been using the last few months to develop a new app for the Novation Circuit (Tracks). Again using touchOSC, so it will run on the iPad. I've implemented all the things I wanted to see in a big, luxurious version of the Circuit (at least as far as that was possible).
It's called “NC Companion” and it will make your life easier when producing and performing live.
Here's a little teaser of one of it's features :)
Stay tuned, there's more to come!

  • Looking forward to more info.....

  • Great 👍 need it!

  • Looks great, well done!

Love that Auto-fade in feature. How does that work? Is it a default control in TouchOSC or is there clever scripting going on?

It's a mixture of scripting and TouchOSC's native "pull" feature. I hope I will find the time to explain how it works in another video soon.

Is it a standalone app or a script for touch osc?

It's a TouchOSC template (= you will need TouchOSC to run it).

  • Alright. Thanks for your response.

  • So what's NC Companion all about?
Well, it all started last summer when I was doing some live jams and realized that I totally suck at doing multiple things at once in real time. Like switching a pattern and muting a couple of tracks at the same time. Really something that simple, but as soon as there's more than one view involved, I freak out. When the next bar is coming towards me like a tsunami, I frantically move my fingers up and down, like ... what? which... where... fluffed the cue. Damn!
So I did what a software developer had to do: Built an external mixer view on the iPad. Boom, problem solved! But wait, why not add effects too? Or a macro view so I don't have to guess what I'm actually manipulating.... and anyway, why should I only use it for myself?
So (much to my wife's chagrin) here it is: NC Companion, your performance and production buddy for both Circuit models.

    • A Mixer with 3 editable parameter knobs, level and and mute per synth/drum channel
    • A Performance view with 16 faders or 8 xy pads freely assignable to any of the circuit's parameters
    • A Macro page with all information about the macro parameters of the currently selected patch. It will even resolve the Modulation Matrix to destination and source, so that you really see what you're going to change
    • An Effect editor to edit the hidden parameters of the circuit's effect section
    • A Sample Tuner to play and record samples tuned in scale on the drum tracks
    • Parameter Snapshots to quickly store and recall all currently set mixer and performance values
    • Hardware controller support including Midi Learn
    • Up to 64 Presets to save mixer and performance configurations.
    • Preset Links to automatically load a preset when the project/session is changed on the circuit

  • This looks superb!

  • Just released a demo, it's available for free in the deepsonds store:

Please note that you will need touchOSC mkII to run it.

    Have fun!

  • Great! Thanks, I’ll give it a try later this evening.

  • I'll write here because I don't want to open a new thread for this very niche...

Free Summer Gift - Novation Circuit Memory Expansion

I created another touchOSC template that adds 96 patches to the Circuit's memory.
Just upload your favorite sounds and have them quickly available, no matter which pack you are in!

It works with both Circuit OG and Tracks and fits well on mobile phones.

Also included are 16 original patches from my personal 1 OSC Challenge.

You can get this template for free from the deepsounds store: https://payhip.com/deepsounds
