  • All three apps are great.

  • I only have iGrand. Is best piano on ipad just did this with it http://m.soundcloud.com/stuartkilbride/autumn-moon

  • For me the electronic piano one does not sound as good as neo soul keys which you can also try out free

  • I totally agree about the electric piano. The Neo Soul samples are rich and vibrant.

    Sounds great, RedSkyLullaby!

Thanks for your inputs on the electric pianos, I've tried Neo Soul Keys and I loved the sound of it, so I can imagine that it's the "best".

  • Neo Soul is great but it's yet another big footprint beast....

  • Yeah, that often causes trouble for me, with my 16 GBs. I think that's why I deleted the app.

SampleTank is really good. You get some quality samples to begin with. They cover just about every category of instrument. The add on packs are great also. They add to every instrument category IN SampleTank. IK also have a huge orchestral/choir pack that's excellent.

  • By the way the track above uses altispace for reverb rather than internal reverb in iGrand not that the internal one is bad though

  • @RedSkyLullaby I like the piano piece very much. And you have pulled off the 'human' quality well. I see a couple (or maybe a man alone) walking beside a canal, probably Amsterdam, the sort of day that leather shoes make the grit on the stones sound loud, cold air. Going somewhere, going nowhere.

I see you used youcompose. How do you like it/find it?

  • Basic question: Is the paid iGrand worth the price? I have the free version and totally think it's the best Piano I've got by far (don't own CME Piano). I don't know if I can rationalize having 16 more Pianos for 20 bucks. A bunch a different Electric Pianos can sound really different, but Acoustic?

youcompose is actually really good, it quantizes rigidly though so like i said i had to unquantize it in Bm2. You play in a melody with onscreen keys or midi keyboard and it will generate 3 harmonizing parts, you can export to a daw as 4 different midi channels to send to apps of your choice. I plan on doing some complex melody/harmony ambient stuff with it also

You don't get 16 pianos, you get 3 or 4, with a variety of effects settings. On the other hand, with CMP you only get two, but at least they're up front about it.
