Missing keys in AUv3
I guess it’s the developers shortcomings. Anyhow very lame if you ask me.
Comments
It's up to the developer to decide what to show inside the AUv3 version of an app.
Even Pure Piano you can’t use properly in AUM because the sustain control is on the keyboard but AUM hides it. This must be a bug.
AUM (or any other host) has no influence on what the AUv3 presents for its u.i. . Some AUv3 change what is drawn based on the window size. A standalone app has the whole screen to draw into. The AUv3 has a smaller window to draw into. Make the window as large as possible to see if that changes what the plugin shows. In some plugins, the aspect ratio matters, too.
Yeah I know this already, but every synth I load up in AUM has its keyboard completely missing. I’ve tried Butter synth, Pure Piano, Fab Filter Twin and none of them have their own keys as if you were to just open up the app alone. None of them work at least on my iPad anyways.
Rings Fx another one. No keyboard.
No, that was the Pure Piano devs' decision not to add that to the auv3. I am also not crazy about that choice. You can still always send sustain cc messages into the app, but yeah, not as convenient. None of this has the slightest thing to do with the AUM dev's decisions tho, as others have commented.
Wow that’s lame.
AUM has no influence on whether the plugins show a keyboard in their window or not.
You mention Animoog. Animoog does draw its keyboard if you size the window right. Even on a tiny iPhone.
Wow. That’s crazy that you can’t turn on sustain for me this is a huge deal with a piano. I guess I’ll have to buy a different piano now.
Yes Moog does but none of the synths I mentioned do, I’ll change that. Thx
You can load a keyboard AUv3 like KB-1 to play the piano. It has a Latch button to hold the notes. The AUM keyboard has one also, the "infinity" icon.
Yes I’ve tried both but they actually latch the keys on then. I just can’t believe these developers make it so their keys disappear in AUM.
Just weird but I guess it’s just me.
@colorsinspace : the point we are trying to make is that the thread title and first posts imply that the behavior you don’t like had something to do with AUM. It doesn’t. The issue is decisions made by the particular AU developers not to include an onscreen keyboard in their AUv3 interfaces.
The reason devs do that is that AUv3 are mostly run in windows that don't have the space and pretty much every host provided an onscreen keyboard
Let the individual devs know about your request. AUM has no influence on this.
Got it. Changed
Maybe you could remove AUM from the thread title. AUM has nothing to do with it. The issue is instruments running as AUv3 in any host.
Better tbh to change the title to ‘missing keyboards in AUv3 hosts though’ because the current title still makes it seem like it has something to do with AUM in particular, but it really doesn’t.
Load a second copy of KB-1, use its CC mode, and make a button to send CC64, toggle or not as you wish. Route its output to the piano app.
Cool. I’ll try that. Thx!
