    Very interesting!

    But embedded videos are useless:

    EDIT:

I cannot manage to post a useful version of the URL - keep trying!

That's a huge disappointment- the forum does not seem to be able to handle URLs properly anymore.

I don't understand. The video works just fine here.
Perhaps it has to do with your region, or more likely privacy measures.

Or are you saying that it works embedded but you'd prefer it not to?

Yes, it does not seem to be possible to post a link so that either the YouTube website or the YouTube App get's opened.

Embedded videos are most of the time useless - you cannot see the video description, you cannot see and use additional links, you cannot even subscribe to a channel or like the video and you cannot comment.
Esp. for posting someones own videos from their own channel (when you are a creator), embedded videos are the worst thing possible.

I think that a real link is always better than an embedded video.
It used to work with the URL button, but somehow that's broken now.

Just click on the“youtube“ button and it opens in a new tab. Not an option? I prefer it the way it is.

Yes, this is what I do.

Even if that works, people don't do it - they just watch the embedded video instead of visiting the channel.
With all the bad effects ....

The video creator can decide whether or not videos are embeddable in the settings for the video itself. Generally when they do that they're roundly criticized here (not by me).

If they don't then it's just one more click for anyone who prefers to watch on Youtube.

The solution would be to post just links and not an embedded video, as I wrote - but that does not seem possible anymore.

That's all I wanted to say - originally, I only wanted to post the mere URL and recommend to post videos in this format. It serves the purpose of the videos and the intention of it's creator.

Jamie Mallender recently posted a video that isn't embedded here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/1327940/#Comment_1327940

Maybe there's a clue how to do it there?

  • One major benefit I've noticed of embedded videos is that ads are filtered. Not sure why, not limited to any one forum, but it's easy enough to demonstrate if you doubt me.

  • ^this.

Though my conscience usually prods me go to Youtube to sit through the ad for the benefit of the content creator.
