While I think it will be a few years before we reach the point A.I. video is indistinguishable from real films I do think currently A.I. films do make an interesting sub genre of animation.
I’m guessing the amount of actual human work that went into this short film was pretty high.
I would love to have that level of control over the Stable Video Diffusion app. I’m not sure if this is AnimateDiff, Sora, or Runway or something else but whatever they used, clearly a lot of time and effort went into this even if it is generated content.
I don’t want a future where this is the only content, but I think there will be people who find cool ways to use these tools to create entertaining videos that will have an audience. And as the tools get better, I think the content will improve too.
honestly watching those AI generated movies is like form of masochizm 😂🤣 It still look utterly bad.. This technology is still like years away (devade ?) from making realistic movies, it still looks like bad trip or hallucinogenic dream …
And decades later:
Yeah I know it’s not like the same as ‘real’ filmmaking. But it’s happening super fast, particularly in the open source community. Think of it like when photography got invented, loads of portrait painters went bust, but some learnt photography, and some then learnt cinematography.. etc..etc..

A friend of mine in a band called “The Black Light Mutants” made a music video using AI a few weeks ago.
I feel what he has done is valid, it’s not really an attempt at realism.
It took 48hours to render.
His (industrial) punk rock ethic and attitude are 100% genuine.
I was seriously impressed. If I ever finish a tune, I’d twist his arm and pay money for such a video.
I generally am tired of most of the pointless churned out AI stuff though.
