What is so beastly about it? The price? You don't have to buy all the IAP. I only have a couple and they're worth every penny.
It's definitely my most used plugin. The electric pianos are the best I've heard on iOS and I love that they don't require all the extra space that sampled pianos require, plus they respond more realistically than samples. Also to be able to have the same high quality pianos on mobile that I have in my studio is priceless imo.
A mix of everything, price, CPU, app complexity due to being a platform. It's just a different beat than a rompler like the Audiothing app.
I don't doubt that it's worth the money if you're a frequent piano user and probably the best app of its kind. Currently for the stuff I make I don't use pianos at all. But I'd still get the Audiothing app on a sale because I know that I'm going to use it in the future on a casual level.
Pianoteq ftw... If I could only have one instrument app that would be it, I wouldn't even have to think twice about it!
I feel you. If you don't use pianos that much then that makes total sense.
As for CPU and app complexity, I don't find either of those to be an issue. CPU usage is really low (I'm a stickler when it comes to CPU and rarely use plugins that are hogs) and as for complexity, it's one of those that it can be as deep or as basic as you want. There are so many great presets, I usually just pick one and go 99% of the time and mostly stick to my favorites.

I was really thinking to buy it, another choice would be the Yahama CP Reface which sounds very good. But Pianoteq is like 1/4 of the Yamaha price so.....

That's a good question. I went with the Stage version since I wanted an acoustic piano too, so I'm not sure if you can just buy the Electric Piano pack for $49 or if you need one of the versions.
Can't buy any packs without upgrading to at least Stage (~$200) but you get to pick two packs with that, and get a bunch of free instruments along the way - including an amazing CP80.
Ahh good to know. I got Stage for just over $100 on sale (it's $139 normally).

Right on, makes total sense now, and good call on the demo. I often pull up the harps and classical guitar to switch things up for fun. Eventually I want to buy them, but it's so nice to be able to test drive them in the meantime as often as I want with only a few limitations.
You definitely can’t go wrong with the Pianoteq electric pianos though - I can’t think of anything that sounds better, and they’re really tweakable.

Oh yeah! I'm not in any way comparing Audiothing Wurly with Pianoteq electric pianos in that comment, by the way, either, to be clear. It's just a general comment about how great Pianoteq is.
No doubt it's great but I personally won't spend as much as an iPadPro on ONE app...
I'm a big Pianoteq fan, but even I would never do that. Unless someone is a completionist, there is really no need to spend that much as having that many pianos is quite excessive. All I need is one good acoustic piano, Wurli, and Rhodes. The Stage version gave me all that for just over 100 bucks.

Good call. I loaded up a few of the demo songs and it sounds amazing...but then again, they all do 😁
Well, apart from how great their stuff sounds, I also love pianoteq because of the incredibly generous demo policy, one I wish more iOS devs would implement!
