Test tone generators like Audiotest for iOS/Mac wanted!
Inspired by an older lecture from Alva Noto and the approach of creating tracks based on a single test tone I tried to download Audiotest from the Appstore but it's unavailable in Germany.
The website links to the appstore, there is no other purchase option. There's an older shareware version but that one doesn't start on current Macs, even with Rosetta.
What alternatives do exist? I'm only aware of AUgen but that's it. Searching for test tone generators is kinda hard because most of the simple ones I've discovered just generate a tone and not a sweep of the full frequency range like Audiotest.
Here is the part about it from the lecture for those interested:

There’s Audio Toolbox: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/audio-toolbox/id1353387223
Standalone but does sweeps. It’s an early app from @4pockets_paul.
Thanks for the lecture btw. Interesting.
Fundamental, Thermo and Augen.
Thanks, do you know if they can save/export the test tone as a file?
Multi Tone Generator by Thomas Gruber seem to be able to do the sweep thing and play several waves simultaneously. I just found it so not sure if it's any good.
I don’t think so. You’d need to do a screen recording. But auGEN X should be able to do all of this and more. It’s a great app.
Works in Audiobus, doesn’t show up in AUM.
Shows up for me in AUM, in Inter-App Audio. It's called SynthLITE (the free version).
No new app required, and a lot more adjustments possible using existing tools:
Works as an AUv3 too.
For audio equipment testing, you most likely want the log sweep (the shaper curve is a line because the oscillator treats its pitch input logarithmically already).
Lol. That’s a bit counterintuitive. Thanks though.
Ha!!
This was my first thinkin’ - dudes here on the forum will soon present a Drambo version of this!!
Drambo is great, so are you!!
Thanks @HolyMoses!
Thanks, I think I'll stick with the Drambo approach for now because I can capture and save it easily, thanks to @rs2000
This one is very well specified, you can create a sequence of different test tones. No connectivity though:

Thanks for the suggestion.
None of the dedicated iPad apps mentioned so far (except Drambo) seem to be able to save to .wav files though, they only offer to save presets which isn't what I'm looking for. I know that I culd sample the output in AUM, but this would be more complex to just firing up Drambo and doing it there.
