Synching Loopy’s groups with Drambo Patterns.
I’m trying to sync Drambo patterns with Loopy loop groups so when I press a pattern button a specific loop group in loopy becomes active to mute/unmute.
For example:
I have 2 patterns in Drambo that are set to change at the end of the bar when pressing a pad on a controller. Each pattern corresponds to a pad like in a clip launcher.
I have 2 blank loop groups in loopy. I’d like group 1 to become active when the pattern one in Drambo is playing and the same to happen with group 2 and pattern 2.
Ideally I’d like the loops to stop playing quantised in sync when I change patterns in Drambo.
Any idea what’s the best way to tackle this?
Of course I have 2 physical buttons assigned for play/stop, record and mute for the selected loop.
Thanks

What about setting loopy pro to respond to the midi events that Drambo is responding to and with the same quantization?
Yes. That’s what I was attempting to do but I see no quantisation options with select action.
So I know how to accomplish this with a loop that’s already recorded. Where I get a bit confused is how to have let’s say two patterns in Drambo each with a corresponding empty loop that can be recorded on the fly when selected. The problem I have with what I’ve tried so far is that when I queue up the next Drambo pattern using a pad is that the pad selects the successive loop and I no longer have control over the previous loop. Aka, I cannot mute or clear it unless I select it again which will go back to the first Drambo pattern.
I realise my explanation is a bit long winded. It’s probably because I know what I want but perhaps I don’t have a clear idea of how it would work in practice.
On reflection I’d like the non selected loop to stop playing as soon as the next Drambo pattern and the associated loop are selected.
@supadom : tap on the dot to the left of actions to set their timing (quantization, delay , etc$
Ok. I’ll give it a try tomorrow.
Thank you.
I think I have it working for most part with a couple of issues:
I’d like the loop to mute or stop playing when the next Drambo pattern starts. So loop stop or mute when not selected. Or maybe just a loop playing exclusively one at a time. Is this possible?
It isn't clear to me what you mean. I think more details are needed to know how best to advise you.
If you send loopy triggers, it can start/stop/mute whatever you want. The only way for Loopy to know what is happening in drambo is for you to either send midi from Drambo to Loopy or by sending the same triggers to loopy and drambo.
How are you switching Drambo patterns?
I use pads on an old launchkey mini. They send note messages.
All I really need at this point is for loopy to only play the selected loop and mute others.
Ok, I found groups mutual exclusivity settings. Getting closer.
I’ll need to spend some time thinking about synching lengths of patterns in Drambo and loops in Loopy.
I’d like to avoid having pre set bars in a loop because I always start with an empty project and record on the fly using autogrow and unquantised recording in loopy.
It’s great for spontaneous creation but hard to keep pattern/loops lengths even.
Use the solo action to play the loop rather than the play action and only the targeted loop will play.
That’s a grand idea.
Thank you @espiegel123
Tried it @espiegel123 but this method, while great and simple would require me to have rec and clear actions for each loop while the with ‘selected clip’ method I can use just two controller buttons for every loop.
I just jammed it out and it works in a ramshackle but actually very musical way.
Thanks for your assistance sir. As always.
BTW I started hosting Loopy in Drambo which resolved the Drambo AUV3 loading in Loopy issue I’ve reported a couple of days ago on Discord.
