ChaosArp by Axart Software (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chaosarp/id6497066359

Introducing ChaosArp, the next-level MIDI arpeggiator designed to transform your musical ideas into intricate, dynamic patterns with a unique twist. ChaosArp is not just any arpeggiator; it's a powerhouse tool that uses the same advanced algorithms as LoAder to modulate pitch, rhythm, velocity, and duration, creating evolving, complex but high musical patterns that breathe life into your music.

Dive into the heart of your creativity with ChaosArp's innovative 'rhythm event' feature, which allows you to explore a variety of rhythmic modifications. From repeaters to stretchers and rests for extra space and emphasis-ChaosArp has it all. Each one of these rhythm events can be assigned to any of the 6 available slots, offering limitless possibilities.

Fine-tune your sonic exploration with the innovative 'variance' control - which goes one step beyond the simple 'probability' control that most arpeggiators have. Adjusting this setting for either itch or rhythm (or both) will vary the character of the generated sequences, from fairly minimalistic o completely chaotic, thus opening up a world of endless variations.

Elevate your music production today with ChaosArp and unleash patterns that inspire!

Features:

  • Variable rate, from 1/128 to 4 beats
  • 3 modes (up, down, up/down)
  • 1 to 4 octaves range
  • Latch mode
  • Pitch randomizer with probability and variance control and random octave
  • Rhythm event selector with probability and variance control
  • 6 assignable rhythm event slots
  • 13 rhythm event algorithms, including repeaters, stretchers, and rests
  • Repeat, stretch, and repeat rest probability controls for further customization of the rhythm event algorithms
  • Randomizable velocity and duration with variable range
  • 4 performance buttons that temporarily override the probabilities of pitch, rhythm, velocity, and duration
  • Automatable parameters
  • Standalone and AUv3

  • Seems really cool and powerful.
Would love to hear it in action.

  • Great app. There is a randomizer that can generate cool sequences

Same, just jumped high up my list.

  • Looks great - is there a demo anywhere? I can't find one on YOutube.

Found one via their website ... would like to see a demo with a single instance, and maybe a breakdown of some of the key unique features it offers.

My Patreon has a walkthrough, not sure whether I will manage to do one for YouTube. There is a manual linked in the app, but strangely it seems it is not available on his site - might be worth messaging him to ask that he make that available there. The app is not too hard to learn.

  • If you have MiRack, then Audible Instruments Random Sampler (aka MI Marbles) might be a comparator.

  • picked it up, looking forward to trying it out! I'm a big fan of your mLFO app so I snagged this one based on that alone. Good luck!

    In AUM:
4 Instances all fed from AUM’s Keyboard using the HOLD note feature
4 PianoTeq Targets (Piano, Harp, Kalimba, Nylon Guitar)
all processed through a FAC Alteza Reverb

  • Lovely app! Instabuy for me! Just a request: rnd and variance amount for MIFI channel number! 😍

I can’t find setting to sync to the Host’s transport… but I’m also seeing that starting and stop each instance without any regard for the transport is interesting and someone I rarely do.

I also fumbled around at first without noticing I needed to INPUT MIDI… I’m too used to MIDI Generating apps so I would hit play and started changing setting and hitting P.SYNC but nothin’.
I found the Manual On-line… downloaded a copy read:

    Usage

ChaosArp is a MIDI arpeggiator. Connect a MIDI source to its input, a sound source to its output, hit some notes and that’s it!

I felt like such an idiot. It’s an Arp.

Nice. I was wondering how this will sound at a slower BPM. Will purchase.

It's an arp, so yes, it sends midi out but you also need to send notes / chords into it

Yes, put it in a midi slot in AUM, fed BounceBed into it, and sent ChaosArp to a preset in SugarBytes Factory. 20BPM. Love the evolving result! Well worth five bucks!

I'm impressed by the uniqueness and complexity of this app. It can create some interesting evolving variations. I've had to start with the most clean slate with very simple changes and try to get my head around it. But worth the effort so far.

I’ll need to try this again using your strategy, because my first attempts were everything but musical.

It's pretty easy to get out of control. Using AUM's keyboard set to hold notes, I entered some random chord, left it on and then carefully incremented various settings to hear how things changed. There are so many interconnected variables, one little tweak has a big effect.

  • This app is fun. Worth 5$ for sure. Loving it with moog mariana a lot

Any ideas about midi in the standalone for hardware input output?

    Excellent thanks 👍

  • Just bought it because it looks like an interesting arpeggiator. The only problem for me is the horrible grey in grey low contrast UI design. I am not sure if there is an option to switch to a high contrast theme.

I don't think there is, maybe something worth requesting from the dev. Low contrast UIs seem very in vogue these days for some reason 😁
