Which iPad can you recommend?
I bought the ES-9 for my Eurorack and am thinking about buying an iPad.
For me, the iPad feels more alive than a computer and I think it suits my workflow better.
What I want to do with it is edit the individual tracks with EQ, Compressor, Saturation, Reverb, Delay (AUM).
I also wanted to use the Sugar Bytes Egoist app.
Which iPad would you recommend?
I'm not sure either 11 or 13.

In terms of size, I recommend trying one out in person, I’ve had both and prefer the smaller one, but others had the opposite experience, so it really is a matter of personal preference.

I’ve just bought the 13” Air, which means I can finally properly enjoy using Logic. Absolutely brilliant for music making, though I’ve kept my 11” for web browsing, as the 13” is a bit bulky.

That said, make sure to get at least 512gb storage in your iPad if not above. All that audio tends to suck up space quickly!

I myself use an iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB. I like a smaller form factor, but there are no iPad Minis with more than 256gb storage yet. xD
If you want to hold the ipad in one hand to read a book, the 11". If you want a touchscreen to perform live music or live mixing, then the 13".
That's my goal perform and or live mixing. 13" is set.
I took another look at the specifications.
Apple M4 chip
Models with 256 GB or 512 GB storage space:
9-core CPU with 3 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores
Apple M2 chip
8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores
Isn’t it better to have more performance cores?
I have a M2 and I cannot even come close to maxing the cpu out. I used to have a 2017 Pro and I would max out the cpu all the time.
I would say go for the M2 but with as much storage as you can afford. That runs out.

(tldr; I think you can safely put number and type of cores way down your list of factors to consider.)
If iPad is anything like the Mac then the answer is: it depends on the app. Not all hosts support multi-core audio processing (AUM isn't one of them), and implementation is unique in each. Performance measurements are difficult on iOS because of lack of measurement tools. The only true tests involve comparing the number of particular plugin instances can be run before audio breakups. That's a time consuming process, and of course not that many people have multiple iPad models to carry out such tests anyway. That's not to say that only hosts that support multicore processing benefit from more and faster cores, they do, they just don't have optimizations specifically to leverage that.

I don't have any specific data to back it up, but I would say more ram is better, but is still not super high on the priorities list. All 'Mx' iPads are likely to have more ram than you'll need for music production. The amount of ram that AUv3 plugins can use in a host session is capped by the operating system. I've never read a thread where available ram is indicated as a limiting factor other than the AUv3 ram cap (which btw is a cap on the cumulative ram of all instances of a particular plugin. Why?? Beats me. 🤷🏼♂️). I've also never read anything to indicate that more ram boost processing speed on iOS/iPadOS like it does on desktop computers. That isn't to say that it does not - it's just that there are no tools to measure this, thus nobody does.
Form factor, storage, longevity (model recentness), ports (USB-C, Lightning, headphone jack), and price point, in that order, should be the deciding factors, IMO.
iPad Air m1 or air m2
Basically the Most recent, most storage, highest Chip, and the biggest screen size you can afford.

I've used an iPhone 15 Pro, iPad mini (latest), and 12.9" iPad Pro M2 with an ES-9. Generally using at least half of the I/O on the ES-9, sometimes more depending on the patch, and the equivalent plugins in AUM to support a 2-voice synth with a lot of modulations. I use CoVariant for the MIDI->CV duties, and do a lot (not all) of the FX in AUM using AUv3 instances.
If I don't manage and group things like reverb and delay instances, it will max out the iPad mini, and the iPhone at some point. Rarely comes close with the M2 chip. Hands down the larger iPad is my favorite to use, simply because of the larger screen. I don't have a need to hold it, so that helps. If I did, I might just use the iPhone.

I have the 13” Air M2 and 11” Air 4, they are both brilliant but the 13” is best for having more on display. I use Cubasis 3 and editing with a larger screen is so much better.
In terms of maxing out the CPU on the 13” - no chance

there is one problem with the 13” M2 if you use IAA plugins, I have found SampleTank no longer links to DAWs, many would say “move away from IAA”, but this app has brilliant multi samples, especially the Heavy Metal guitar preset that goes from a guitar mute to a blistering lead by changing the velocity levels.
Im still overspecced with 3 ipad 9 at 1024 samples.
But its more hassle and you stuck ( in a good way ) with Drambo on each.
I still havent really used to see if session across screens is better than 1 screen.
I guess 2 ipad 9 is still actually more powerfull than an ipad air.
But with 3 ipads.
You got drums.
Then a synth ipad.
Then some sample ipad but a song might not use samples.
So a 2nd ipad could have been an air instead
and even then.
Because I keep buying as if a 1st ipad is a drum machine.
Then would be buying another ipad that might be underspecced for single use.
So will wait until ipads get even better.
Id then have a single ipad
and up to 3 ipads as back up drum machines provided the apps still work on old IOS.
The modern ipads should be enough but not liking cpu amount of some modern synths, even on these.

All I can tell you is I bought the 12.9 in iPad Pro and I found it too heavy. It's 1/2 lb more than the 11 in, and that extra 1/2 lb makes a big difference. I didn't think it would make that much difference, but it does. I like the bigger screen, but 1.5 lb is too heavy! Wish I had gotten something lighter. The whole thing about the iPad is light and portable. If you're going to schlep around 1.5 lbs, might as well just get a MBP.

Had to tape a lamical stand to a book.
So weighs more.
but easier in lap and generally as a stand.
Id opt for tablets to maybe have at least a flimsy frame thing on back of tablet.
Like a photo frame.
With tablets potentially going nuclear powered.
Perhaps it will just fly around with you anyway.
Who will make the best case.
Will it need a poncho etc.
