Trooper Synth ..any good?

I was just watching a video by Jakob Haq on Trooper Synth. It looks pretty nice, but without demos, I'm being cautious. Does anyone here have it or have experience with it?
It is like a Moog or Memory Moog style synth with some major mods.

Cheers

Yeah, I agree. This is why I'm weeding out my stuff and focusing only on apps I like and use. My recent purchase was the classic Spacecraft Synth and feel it was well worth it. It's a bad addiction, but I'm slowly getting better with less purchases.

  • The intro to this song idea that never went anywhere is the sound I most think of with Trooper. I know YouTube muffles the sounds to some degree. I think Yonic apps all have a certain sound - it’s not Moog or anything else - Yonic just seems to have its own particular sound. People seem to either love them or hate them. I like Trooper at times and other times the sound grates on me a little. I definitely like messing with the app, as it’s just a nice simple synth to play with when synths like Nambu or SynthMaster 2 are overkill at times.

  • It's a really nice, simple synth. Classic sounds. I just wish Yonac would bring their synths and effects to macOS!

  • I actually really like Trooper. I’ve used it mostly for bass, though.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • It was the first AU synth I bought… and it never clicked with me. I’m mainly a sound designer vs preset surfer , but I never could make anything decent with it. The sound was very metallic and has this pipe reverb type sound that doesn’t go with what I do.

  • Bought it but somehow never use it. I lack the click as well, but then, I have so much stuff that I forget using more than half of what I own.

Thanks.. I think I get the sound of this :)
I am trying to find a synth that works well for me. My favorite last synth I really loved and still do is Bram Bos Hilda. I also like Thor, Poison, Subscription Syhth, and Moog synths. I am slowly venturing into Buttersynth and Syhthmaster, but it's a little too clean and buggy.

I love Trooper! I’ve designed 275 presets for it, and am considering doing a second bank! I tried messaging Yonac to include as an IAP but no word back. Will release it next month :)

The texturizer and Espirit functions provide for some thick results! If you’re a fan of Magellan 2 or Kauldron, you would love this, as it’s in the vein of those, but with all of the controls on one page and a thicker sound. But if you’re on a mission to not buy apps, and already own those or Model D, you’re set.

  • I’ve had it since launch. It’s an amazing synth, and has a MOOG-like sound with some settings (as well as the MOOGish look)

It does have its own unique sound though with other settings, but doesn’t have that “Yonac sound” that all of their other synths have (like Magellan, Kauldron, and Kasper).

Pretty much a good multi-purpose synth that covers bass, leads, pads, and everything else in between. AND it’s MPE, and has a great MPE keyboard that can be loaded into a midi slot to control other MPE synths (even GeoShred)!

I also have so many synths, that I often forget to use it, but I’ve always been impressed with its sound when I do remember to use it.

Oh, and the other cool thing about it, is that it doesn’t really have a bunch of menu diving. Pretty much ALL of its controls are all right on the main screen! (This was a huge selling point to me)

  • I wish there were demos. Thanks everyone for their thoughts and insights.

It’s a great synth and their is tons of video on YouTube.

  • It’s great. It sounds fantastic. All controls immediately available.

One small pet peeve of mine is that the glide never really goes down to zero. Other than that it’s amazing.

  • Trooper is the first one I reach for -- almost every time. I play with other musicians and I need a meaty synth like this to cut through the mix. It is a very rich synth with powerful sounds that come out a massive presence. I bought some of the IAPs and also Jakob's pack that he sells on his site.
