Ringotron riffing: Minimally Invasive
“After four decades Freeman had personally performed possibly as many as 4,000 lobotomy surgeries in 23 states, of which 2,500 used his ice-pick procedure, despite the fact that he had no formal surgical training. His patients often had to be retaught how to eat and use the bathroom. Relapses were common, some never recovered, and about 15% died from the procedure… Freeman usually wore neither gloves nor mask... He lobotomized 19 minors, including a four-year-old child.”
I’ve been accused of being a little too melodic, even, the heavens forfend, of being ‘up beat’ of late. We can’t have that!
So: In the words of the immortal Leonard Cohen: You want it darker?
Presented for your consideration, then: a little AUM-tastic generative engine. Some Physicles, some Relic Waves, a fistful of Shockwave synths, Neon on max rando, Gatelabs ditto, a smattering of Slow Machines, some Hainbachean Noises, PitchDrift, and a lot of Ringotrons. I’ve not previously found much use for Ring Modulation, but Ringotron offers a broad palette of textural edging. I had fun with it here, a four minute condensation of a fifteen minute evolution. I can see myself using it to add spice in the future. Live mixed/edited into AudioShare. I strive towards, but don’t always achieve, a kind of inevitable unhurried sombre vibe in my noises. Mood wise, I think this comes close.
So, yeah. Not too cheery this time, I hope.

NICE N DARK!
I have no fear of the dark. Great piece.
Brutalist dark expanses…chilling, edgy - twitchy…
At last, you’ve slipped back to the dark side 😊
Just read up about Freeman, chilling stuff which your music complements beautifully 👌
So great! One you go dark you don’t go bark or something equally stupid .
