64 step sequencer not in a DAW??

i’m looking to sequence a 64 step sequence. and i’m looking for an midi app that has 64 steps.
i know i could use a Daw, but im trying to sequence multiple synths and samplers within AUM

is there anything out there like this?

While I've not bought it yet (due to lack of proper ratcheting) Prism seems to be a good candidate?

    midiSTEPs is another older classic.

I would suggest you search this forum for other sequencer related threads. There are plenty of sequencer apps available, but they are all different in specific ways. Finding the right sequencer (speaking from my own experience) that suits your personal musical needs and work flow can take time.
There is a whole load of apps available, but in the end it depends on your needs: How do you want to input the sequence (step entry, live recording, sliders, knobs....)? What type of UI suits you best? What features do you want?

  • I couldnt resist. ;)

  • Riffer has 64 steps and works in stand alone
Helium has as many steps as you like as does ATOM 2. Both have some form of layers and layer switching. Helium recently added chord tracks (or at least improvements on it).
Theres also EG Nodes which does 16steps x 5 bars = 80 steps

ALL of them can be routed within AUM

See also Drambo and Quantum Sequencer

and if you want a PAIRING (runs along side it in stand alone) that gives AUM a full MIDI DAW theres Xequence

Riffer i need to check that. Atom2 is that still out there? I thought it got abandoned

Atom 2 still works fine. It's just no longer under development.

  • EG Nodes might be a good choice given the lack of specifics about what you're looking for. It has six different types of sequencers. I'm guessing at least one of them would be suitable. Cost might be more than what you're hoping for though.

Melody Bud is straightforward and has capability for any number of steps. I'm not sure what the maximum is, but it's way past 64. The "Draw" mode is pretty handy.

  • Neon has 8 steps x 8 states.

  • Prism is an excellent choice .. easily my favorite iOS sequencer right now ..

mKer is also well worth checking out, though, its iPad only but still a fantastic sequencer ..

To clear steps out of a pattern you can either tap the individual step you want to clear and that step will clear ..

or if you want to clear the whole pattern, tap the state settings menu (4th circle down between trig steps and key pad .. sometimes looks like a gear icon), the key pad will show different options and in the top right corner of the keypad, you’ll see “Clear SEQ” .. long press “Clear SEQ” until the sequence clears

No worries .. also, if you open the main settings (gear icon at top of screen), the top left key of the key pad is “help docs” .. tap that and it will open a link to super handy Prism cheat sheets that show what does what in the app.

I’ll link them here too ..

  • oh cool. i’m gonna dig into it. such a cool app

  • Yeah, from the moment I started beta testing it, Prism has become my go-to sequencer

Also.. if you haven’t been following it already, here’s the Prism thread started by the developer:

    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/59199/prism-midi-sequencer-now-with-deep-launchpad-integration#latest

.. Looks like he just added some new documentation, as well

  • Here's an example from the d1-dRambo Performance Sequencer based upon
the T-1 Torso mapped extensively for the LaunchControl XL which can used iPad only.
